I would reccomend flashing your drive using your computer. It is a lot easier, but if you insist...

Which drive do you have? If it is the new LiteOn you're out of luck but otherwise you are fine.

They are right there, there is the samsung, hitachi and benq

ya but its for the infectus modchip I have infectus 2 modchip

they are the same thing. infectus 2 simply has the USB port on an extension cable. the rest is IDENTICAL.

Is it possible to dump the NAND without using the infectus chip? I can't get hold of the chip where I stay.

you could desolder it and use a flash dumper, but they're usually a good bit more expensive than importing an infectus.

So is importing the infectus mod chip the best method to dump the NAND? Is there no method of connecting the console without using that stuff? where can I purchase the chip?

You can purchase a specific XD card reader and solder some wires and dump it using that. It is in a thread somnewhere here...but you can't do the timing attack...
