Can anyone tell me if there are any drawbacks using the BenQ with iXtreme 1.41 vs Using the Sammy with iXtreme 1.41?

Hi,

I heard that a modified benq with ixtreme 1.4 can't be detected by Microsoft, at the current time, but that might just be a rumor.

the drive/firmware is never detected. MS checks the media.

So the Benq iXtreme FW is exactly the same as the Sammy, with the same features, FW stealth and all.

The reason i'm asking is because i want to use my sammy for making backups and the BenQ in my box.

a few back-ups ive made on a certain dye of disc wont read in my benq just goes to a black screen but runs perfect in my ms28 so i prefer the samsungs ( they are a pain in the eject department tho)

yeh i dont like the benq myself, have had one that with 1.41 ixtreme fw that just wouldnt play my stealth backup of kane and lynch, just get stuck loading the first level (dont no if it was that drive itself or what as havent had a chance to check it out on any other benq drives) 2 different copies of it too on verbatim.... didnt make sense to me...

cheers

i have found that benq can be fussy with cheaper media and generally didnt read discs as well as my older sammy ms25 did.

The benQ is definetly quieter then the Hitachi and Samsung, for what it's worth - and it seems at times to be faster/more consistent when loading too. Samsung seems to have the highest compatability with burned media - but suffer from eject issues - both traits just like the original xbox1 samsung drives.

The eject in my samsung works fine - and since I never have no disc in it, it likely always will - and there are no window'd lids availible for the BenQ that i've seen - so I have a Samsung ms25 in my own personal uber 360.
