bricked as in bad checksum?
if so, then it should work

bricked as in "OMG!!! i just switched out the power with my swivel chair while flashing the drive and now its bricked and i have to ask stupid questions on xbh!!!" Cry

give up....dump the key and re-program the flash chip is the cheapest option, or - buy a new drive

I think i'll buy a new drive. Fortunately, i made a dump before. Too bad that no one has tried the above configuration before. Its a bit confusing to read the chillifix documentation : it stats (at least on some retailer pages) "all hitachi drives (32 to 59)".
