Hi, I am new to the forum but not to xboxes, wont go into my life storey now though.

Basically I have done a lot of experinmenting with Softmodding.
I have installed a 250gb hard drive in a softmod using HDM. Before I did this everything worked fine with the stock drive. At first glance with the upgraded HDD everything works seemlessley but I have recently noticed that about 20 out of the 100 xbox games I put on the hard drive seem to freeze at the initial loading screen.
Its not the fact they are on the hard drive, the same games dont work from the originals or from back up disks. As i said it worked fine with the original drive and the 250gb drive was an exact replica minus the F drive obviously. Everything else works fine its just this problem.

If anyone can help it will be most appreciated!!

Many thanks a.w.e.s.o.m.-o  Grin

Found a possible solution to anyone that has had the same problem. Apparently you just need to clear out E:/cache. Wont be able to try it until I get home but they sounded like they knew what they were talking about. Any other suggestions though please say as it still might not work.

Hi, do you mean they require a patch after being downloaded? Or they require a patch on a modified xbox or just a softmod? to be honest I think there are just too many games not working for them all to require patches. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I had exactly the same problem.  With my retail drive (although softmodded), everything ran great.  I upgraded the HD to a 160gig drive using xboxhdm 1.9, allowing it to rebuild the drive from scratch.

Some backups now froze, and even some retail discs froze.

The only way I was able to fix the problem was to CLONE the XBox drive.  I had to unlock the XBox HD, then connect the retail drive and the new drive to a computer (both on the primary IDE channel).  Then, make sure you have a CD drive connected on the secondary channel.  Boot the xboxhdm CD, and select CLONE HD instead of rebuild.

That fixed everything for me.

Hope that helps.

I have a freezing problem too but I have a mod chip.  I changed the hard drive to a 160gb a while back but then put the original back in, now i run with the original but games completely freeze sometimes, could my problem be related to the hard drive cache filess?  I have another thread where it was said it might be my hard drive but i thought they meant it was physically broke..

PS. you mentioned downloading games, i looked on bittorrent and didnt find any for xbox, where do you get them from?  Also does soft modding refer to using a hacked dvd firmware?
