Here's my issue. I had the Fall 08 update and since I do not have XBL I manually did the April 2010 update so I could save to a USB drive. I did it correctly and it lets me save to USB, BUT I lost my theme, avatar, and the ability to customize my avatar. When I go to Customize Avatar it tells me I need to update my 360 to use this feature. I just have a black shadow where I used to have my avatar. This sucks. I do not understand why doing a later update removed my avatar, but how do I get it back? I knew ahead of time I could not get an older update to work, but I tried the August 09 update anyway, which, to be expected, the system did not even recognize when I restarted (used USB to update again). I know there's a Nov 2010 update, but I don't want to do that one b/c there are a ton of people out there complaining that that update caused many of their games to no longer work. Does anyone know how I can get my theme and avatar back?

You need to flash a full update (80+MB file), not just a dashboard update.

I thought the Aug 09 was a full update though. When I tried that one, it failed to recognize there was an update available.

If you have the april 2010 update installed, it of course won't allow you to update with a much older update. You need the avatar files installed that match your current firmware.

The April 2010 didn't have them I guess. Where can I get the files for the avatar and the theme? I searched around and couldn't find it.

Thanks for the link, dick. In the past when I have searched their site it would always have the most recent version of the update and none of the past updates would be available, hence the need for threads like this. |
