Maximus released 360 Firmware Toolbox v4.6 - a graphical tool to handle several common dvd-drive firmware tasks. iXtreme v1.4 is added including for Hitachi-LG v78 and v79 (only with passkey for now) drives.
From Readme/NFO:

WHATS NEW ON V4.60:
* ADDED: i-xtreme 1.4 multispeed for all Hitachi Versions (Credit is to C4E)
* FIXED: Properly Display BENQ VAD6038 Hacker String located at 5FE0
* FIXED: Several bugs.

Does that mean you are not going to need another that little chip for flashing it? i am just not sure i wanted to confirm and by any chance any estimated times for this release :p

The reference to Direct dump/flash of 79 drives has been in the readme since v3.1b, maybe earlier, I don't have archived copied of any earlier versions to know, but thats been on the things for the future list for a while now.

Chip will still be required for months to come, imo. He's not going to release a software-only flasher while he's still selling his passkey's (rightfully so). The software flasher will be worked on/perfected/released when either of three things happen:

1. He runs out of Passkeys and doesn't feel like selling them anymore
2. Somebody else releases a software flasher first.
3. He decides he wants to be a really nice guy and releases it for no reason

How the fudge do you get This to run in Vista, if indeed it does at all??? I just get ocx files not installed.
Obviousley i can use it in Xp.
