Hi I bought a replacement drive for my old BenQ and just flashed if with iXtreme 1.4.

The problem is that when i turn on the xbox360 i get an E65 error.

I read what the error code means: E65: DVD Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot.

I checked out the original firmware that was in the replacement drive, the ROM version was BenQ-VAD6038-62640D. Never heard of it..

Any idea how to make it work?

What brand is the replacement drive? Did you copy the key from the old drive to the new one? If it's a different brand, you also have to spoof it to report as a Benq.

Shocked that's a new drive !! It's a BenQ but theres only 3 types (62430C, 62430CR, 624930) - check all your firmware and everything again...you should be getting e66// not e65...PM me once you get e66 (or if you can't PM me regardless) and i'll make you a custom spoof stringed' firmware - wich you can test and then i'll post up the strings

He shouldnt get E66 because he should be using the firmware he flashed to his old benq, or at a minimum, using the old benq fw to create the hacked firmware.  He definitely wont need a 'custom spoof', as the OSIG string need to match his original firmware, not the new drives firmware.  If you use the 'Make iXtreme firmware' command or firmtool, it will all  be done for you.  The drive versions that gigabite mentioned are the only benq's the come in retail consoles.  There are many other versions that exist that were development drives and it sounds like yours may be one of them.

I would erase and reflash.  If you still get E65, then something else is an issue.
