Hi eveybody...first of all, im french, so i beg you to be comprehensive concerning my english. And i hope i can be easily understood ^^

I have an old tired xbox1, and i m fed up with seeing it taking dust... I had the following idea : transform it into an emulation plateform for oldies, throught emulators on linux!
 Grin

But questions appears  Undecided

Is my xbox enough powerful to emulate ? i think it is for snes, megadrive, saturn and so on...but what about ps1 and game cube?
And which way to install linux should i choose? Hardware or Software? I'd like to use soft method, but i think i'll need another HD to store roms (especially if i can emulate gamecube and ps1 games...)

 Huh

Can you help me ?

there is a ps1 emu for it, and most other older consoles, without the need for linux (which slows it down more than running it natively on the xbox). GC and saturn are impossible to emulate on the xbox, it doesn't have anywhere near the power to handle that.

I didn't know emulate without an OS was possible on xbox. Do i should use the existing OS, the dashboard?
And have you any "how to" link to share?

I m a bit disappointed to learn that saturn and gamecube cant be emulate whereas ps1 can...  Cry

It still (i think) a good way to make my xbox life longer Wink

PS1 is very weak and simple compared to saturn and GC.
look up xbox dashboards, i.e. avalaunch, xbmc, or evox. I can't give you links, since the software is under copyright by MS, due to the xbox devkit being used for them.

yes, you do have to mod it. either with an actual chip (IMO the better solution) or by using a softmod (basically a savegame exploit with one of several games).

Normal Xbox Emulators run a lot better than Xbox-Linux-Emulators do...
