Okay so here is the situation, ive been searching forum after forum for a definitive resolution but cant find out.

1. Got a 360 Games worked fine.
2. Modded it and Games and Backups ran fine
3. After Spring update i kept getting Disk is dirty errors on a few games, mainly fifa07
4. Now Backups hardly ever boot. Only a few times on cold boots can i get Halo 3 to run.

its a samsung ms28

Things ive gone through

- Flashing to latest iXtreme 1.3
- Gone through 3 Lasers, 1st Laser My orginal, 2nd One Brand new off a website, and 3rd one was identical to my first laser but again did not work.
- Took drive out of 360 case and tried booting with drive outside of case

It seems the drive has degraded over time, apart from the Laser and FW is there anything else that could cause this.

The media i use is Verbitam DLs and burn them at 2.4x with a pioneer writer. Have never had anything run in background when burning. Tested my rips and web rips but same problem.

Only thing i can think of it Pot calibration but seen as though i have gone through 3 lasers would it make any difference, i have another xbox360 which i got on the cheap that has 1 red light and error 61 or 65 cant remember (i think its a hitachti drive and has been flashed badly) would changing the DVD drive and reflashing be a good idea?

your disks are $#!t or your laser is dying.

Try cleaning the worm drive. Take off the bottom cover off the drive. You will see a brass shaft on the side with a white "toothed" plate that rides in it attached to the laser. Remove the white toothed plate by removing the screw. Take a rag or paper towel and run this through the grooves on the worm drive "brass shaft" by covering the towel over your finger nail. If there is any dirt built up in the grease on this shaft it will cause white screens stating "to play this disc insert it into an Xbox 360 console". Be sure to replenish any grease removed by replacing it with Lithium grease or Moly lube.

Once this is done clean the two teeth on the white toothed plate attached to the laser and reattach it. This should correct the problem.

It doesn't hurt to clean the laser with some compressed air while you are in there.

If the problem doesn't go away then you may either have a weakened laser on the pickup assembly or the RF amp that the pickup feeds its signal to is defective. This resides in the MT1359SE chip.
