Hello. My Hitachi 79 started making those noises and keeps giving me Unreadable Disk errors. I tried to calibrate the pot and readjust the magnet but the problem insists. So I will replace the lens. My question is if I can use the lens from a spare HL GDR-H20N that I have. Does anyone knows if it uses the same mechanism?

Thanks for your reply. I don't know what the original lens are. The drive is a Hitachi 79FK. I didn't change anything on it.

ive just came across the same problem and the best advice i can give you is to get on ebay and grab a dead 360 with a hitachi drive and swap the board on the bottom of your drive i ordered a new laser and it was a waste of time you need and orig 360 laser the dead xbox i got cost me less than the pointless laser i ordered.

Ok friend. Thanks a lot. Seem like I will wait for the TMF firmware for the BenQ DROM. Thanks for your time.
