Hi.

Just wanted confirmation. An acquaintance says it's now possible to upgrade or whatever the xbox360 using software burned on a cd and inserted into the xbox360 drive that will allow to unlock the console making it possible to play all games. I was under the impression this isn't possible and that the console had to be opened and flashed (only way I know of, afaik).

Can anyone confirm if this is possible now? Did anyone release software capable of this?

wrong..
No such way.
First it has to be flashd.

Enable disc is a reality, for  drives already haveing a hacked fw.
That is for samsung drives. So firmguard is disabled, the drive unlocked,
and is just for easyer updateing firmware.
But does requires to be flashd first.

To be honest, I still haven't unlocked mine. I am too afraid to open the damn thing. Let alone the fact that I don't know if I should flash it or use a mod-chip, etc...

Believe me... I even dream about flashing recently  Grin
But still the issue remains: I am way too gutless a coward.  Cry

Do not be afraid of that.
This is a reversible thing.
Only keeeeeeep in minde that is You got a sammy, first buy a sata card.
That way You can not mess up anything.
And have a bunch of backups of your fw.

You see. Right there. That part about the SATA card for the Samsung. If you hadn't said anything I would have messed up. I didn't even know that. God, am I going to get it all wrong and fry my console! Oh boy! I can just feel a panic attack coming on.  Undecided

Well,
You can go for sure..
Just read sume tutorials.
IF You do not use vcc trick, or 2 wire trick,
just the via sata card methood, and You really read before doing anything You will just be fine.

I think the safest way would be to find someone that could do this for me. Spend 37 euro on a card that I won't use for anything ever again... kind of spoils it for me. And besides... there is still that "fear" factor  Grin

I read a couple of how-to and stuff and instead of feeling more confident I feel more doubtful. Anyway... If I did somehow manage to flash the drive, would I be able to play my NTSC Gears of War? I bought it on ebay unaware that NTSC didn't run on PAL consoles.

" I used onboard sata (ICH5) and have flashed all versions of hitachi and samsung."

for samy ms28 vcc trick is needed, but that is not for people who have fear, and not skilled in soldering and other stuff.

I say searching for someone to do it for you is a verry clean solution.
Be on with it.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to play NTSC games on my PAL system after flashing the drive?

No, you need your CPU keys to change the region of your console

Awwwww hell. I thought that flashing the drive would be easy. Now I have people telling me I have to boot to XP, finde some key or whatever, reboot to DOS, edit some files, etc... God. No way I am going to risk bricking my nice little box  Huh I'd have to be nuts! Oh... wait a sec. Oh yeah, I am nuts!

Anyways... can anyone confirm this? Do I really need to edit files and stuff? Aren't there ready-made patched files out there already?
