DosFlash and DosFlash32 V1.1 Beta
-----------------------------------
- DosFlash.typ modified for better BenQ support
- DosFlash16 Flash Manufacturer and Device ID screen output restructured
- flash chips are first erased before writing starts
- DosFlash32 no reenable of DVD-ROMs in device manager after flashing, this means you can't see drive
and maybe have to activate it manual again in device manager, this could give better compatibility and
  hopefully no more blue screens

Many thanks to Jumba, Redline99, TeamModfreakz and Tiros for inspiration and help!

Does this mean you can bad-flash an MS28 (original firmware) now?  That was one thing I didn't like about it, if it was in MS28/FirmGuard mode, it just errors out without letting you do the VIA bad-flash method.

EDIT: Nope, just tried it, still can't bad-flash MS28 drives.

I can do a bad flash on a flashed drive (multiple times flashed with different firmwares...upgrading from one to another etc) fine with my VIA 6421 PCI SAT card fine....no 0800 disk needed !!

it was already flashable with Dosflash, but the new version has BETTER support...

Jelle, I just have missed the part that it was straight flashable through software/sata.

No other solding etc. is needed? Just USB stick with Dosflash 1.1, Via 6421 card and sata to the BenQ drive and that's it? Thought still some solding was needed...

It doesn't seem that the fw guard can be disabled by a via card like for a ms28 drive. So yes there is some soldering needed. TMF did great work on that one in the DVD-ROM subforum.

What about Uberfry's comment, could that be the 100% software solution?

"anyone thought about patching the checksum???"

Is a via chipset still required to flash ms28 drives? And if so do we still have to do the "timing trick" where we wait 10 seconds before telling it to flash.
