I think Pringle meant he fried an Infectus. I haven't seen anything about one of the Phillips drives getting fried by hooking it up to a 360.
So does anyone know if the 34 in "DROM6316/34" means anything important?

No news from TMF in a long time. I wonder, is this project dead?

no no the project is not dead!! the major problem at the moment is, the Winbond W25B20 SPI flash. (mostly soldered in DROM6316 drives) the flash can not be erased and programmed by DosFlash, some unlocking probs. you can only crossflash the drive with this patched app, but there is no way to flash the drive back to original state. (except external programmer) PDF tutorial is almost ready release soon!

Great!
Is the DROM6316 better than the original Xbox BenQ Drive? c4e released a iXtreme Firmware for the Xbox BenQ Drive, are you able to flash it on the DROM6316 drive? And whats about the security, maybe MS is able to read the Firmware of a flashed PC to Xbox DVDDrive ... ?

Personally, I have no intension to go live with it, because I am going to use it to replace a Hitachi. And as you may know, BenQ's don't offer reliable spoofing. Microsoft can easily trace a BenQ spoofed to something else. The video by TMF shows the PC drive booting a backup, which means that iXtreme is compatible (even with some changes). Anyway, I look forward to the release, because I want to make a case mod with watercooling and all, and a PC drive is identical to fit in a PC case.

This project seems good and all but I only have one question here.
Is this drive capable of backing up Xbox 360 games?

Are you talking about the *retracted* comment from C4E or something new?

finally it's done! DosFlash v1.4 supports Winbond W25B20 SPI, so the drive is now flashable under DOS and Windows. hope with a small firmware mod in the future we could skip step3 and step4.
