Here is our new mod showing working PC drive connected to xbox360. the drive is using original x360 retail benq firmware with dvd key. (nothing special) We're not releasing any information yet, it's only to let you know that it's possible (and that maybe a new mod will be released soon) proof video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13jXbhXZI48(thanks to TheSpecialist, uberfry, Tiros and The Xone)

Great work, but i've seen this before...with a Hitachi SATA PC DVD ROM drive...by you, if need be i'll find the topic but you stated it was flashed with Hitachi 47 fw I think...everything was working except eject I believe...anywho what i'm most interested in is...the cost and will it fit in the Xbox 360?

By the way, just in order to know, did you manage to turn the Hitachi 10 into a workable games dvd drive on the xbox360 and decided to keep it under the hood (not criticizing, you can take profit of your work) or was it a failed project? Thanks for your answer.

@Schtrom/TEAMMODFREAKz your new flashing tool wouldn't happen to work on this drive would it (assuming it has a mediatek chipset)?? gigabite

Lets figure aout wich drive can it be.. I wan't to try that too. Becouse I want to place my xbox360 into a pc case, add some real cooling, and a good quality drive. Not like the $#!tty drives ms shipps consoles with.
What ideas we have about this drive shown on youtube movie? What brand could it be? And... maybe it can be cheaper than to buy.. orginial dvd drives for broken boxes...

C'mon, wich drive was it??? What brand/ type Did You mod TMF? I see You connected tray status to the X mainboard, and such..
Should be something with mediatech chip... A close relative to wich is on the original xbox360 drive? OR better.. a drive with the same chip??
Oh please..... Tell wich drive was it..

the drive name was mentioned in other topic, it's a real pity to see that people doesn't read old posts. anyway the drive we used was a "Philips DROM6316", and the drives are limited. you have to solder the eject and tray status wires from x360 to the drive logicboard, and it is necessary to modify the firmware a little bit, becouse there is no possibility to connect the "tray out". So drive can not open the tray, that is only problem at the moment. same like xbox1 SDG-605 firmware in the past.

Limited is putting it mildly. Its a shame a more available drive wasn't chosen.

things like that are not a matter of choosing, but of compatibility/usability.
