xbox frags w/ chip enabled...fake chip?

i was given an xbox1 that someone attempted to install an xecuter 2.6 ce lite in to

the xbox does nothing but frag when d0 is grounded w/ chip enabled

all pin header connections are good as far as i know...i tested each one w/ a multimeter

pins 2 and 12 did not read any voltage but all others showed 3.3v and 5v...is this correct?

i know d0 is good because the xbox will frag just by grounding the wire to the case even w/o the chip in the box

is it possible the chip is a clone or fake? ...i cant come up w/ anything else

is the chip even flashed? if it's an empty flash or the previous guy flashed it with a bad image, it will of course fail.

to be honest..i have no clue

all i was given was an xbox and a "uh..its broken"



edit: i would guess that the person that installed the chip originally never made it far enough to flash the chip itself...when i got the box it was halfway disassembled...i think the person soldered the pin header/wires..the xbox frag'ed and he put it to the side..thats what it looks like atleast....

He probably flashed a bad bios to the chip.

Try switching banks.  If it's no go, then you'll have to buy one of these.

i have tried all combination of switches...the only one that works is when it is switched off 

i have an old "lite programmer" ..the one that uses a battery...it wont work w/ a newer chip will it?

so i took an old x2.2 solderless chip..plugged it onto the pin header on the board...grounded d0 to the case

and it booted

atleast now i know what the problem was...defective/bad flashed x2.6

oh well..thanks for the replies

used a slayers disc to boot

hotswapped working x2.2 w/ x2.6 to reflash bios and it says "flash not writeable"

so it appears something is defective

I don't know if X2.6's have it, but make sure write enable is on.

Sorry for mentioning something obvious, just looking out for you.  I've got so pissed off at stuff and forget the most obvious stuff. (things like leaving a cable unplugged or whatever).

im going to mess with it some more tonight
