At 5:00 am here I had the same thing happen, I did the updat one of my modded counsels, so we will see, stay tuned. Ok I am on live, but two games that I always play required updates as well. I am only updating one unit as of now. I will post if anything happens. Nothing on www.xbox.com/update this leaves me a little uneasy.

no uhm, yes it is.. kind of.. its an attack on a badly implemented compare function for the hashes.. I think the compare function checking the hash resides in the 1BL though, so I don't think they can fix it directly, but they could probably fix it some way.. we'll have to wait for the pros on this matter to answer more properly

The compare function in question is not in 1BL, but in 2BL, thus in flash. However in a region normally not touched by upgrades. But it could be upgraded, and efused so that only an upgraded version run, just like they did for the upgrades.
The good news are that I couldn't find any hypervisor changes. But I haven't checked all the code, kernel+dash+some other haves changes. So it could have missed something. My feeling, however, is that they didn't addressed it *this time*.

Here some interesting things I observed before and after the update.
first off I have a 360 never flashed with different firmwares. latest version of update before this one.
Ok so before I did the update I removed the r6t3 resistor. I then started my xbox to ensure I removed it correctly. After that I put the case back together and ran the update. After the update restarted my xbox I timed the logo screen. It stayed at this screen for 1min 30secs. During that time it said I signed in and also the dvd drive (had forza 2 in) went from being quiet to randomly searching the disk. Didnt sound like a normal start up. This box has never been flashed and I have never had a banned console. It seems like startup takes longer. Im new here so sorry if I missed a rule somewhere.

Since the update i cant't get games-updates. Not for games on dvd and not for xbox live arcade games! My Xbox 360 ist modded with ixtreme 1.2, but my friends 360 is not modded and he have the same problem.
Any one, any ideas?
EDIT: I called the support in germany. It's not a problem of my 360, they said that the xbox live server have problems. I should try it later the woman says.....

I did the update and as we all no we do this at our own risk. Was a little out of the blue that this so called (wireless guitar) update appeared with no warning issued at all and i was a little bit concerned. ATM id say its safe to do but only time will tell. Running ms28 Ixtreme 1.0. Thanks for all the input, help and so on.
