ok here is my problem, when i try to backup my original firmware i use this command : mtkflash r /m orig.bin , after it demande what drive to use i choose the sata controller after it gave me this error: "ERR: fail to open output files" so i read on net it's beacause the destination drive is full, so it's ok since a i use ntfs2dos i change the command to: mtkflash r /m e:\orig.bin. Mtkflash start but never end... it's hung up. I deceide to try this colmmand mtkflash r /b /m e:\orgi.bin same thing mtkflash hungup again!!
Plz help me!
p.s: there is my configuration:
- VIA chipset KBT800PRO
- dos 6.22 bootdisk on cd with ntfs2dos

don't use ntfs2dos, use a fat32 HD or floppy drive instead.

Hmmm, well I have a similar problem to jurulz. However I am booting using a USB Flash disk, which is setup as FAT32. It boots up fine and locates the drive, but after entering the command MTKFLASH R /M Orig.bin it asks me, correctly, which drive - so SEC MASTER and then proceeds to do the imaing (or appears too) I leave it to it's devices and eventually get tired and press esc. status = 51, should be 70 What the hell does this mean, and why can't I make an image of my damn drive  Any suggestions appreciated! |

it means your chipset isn't supported by mtkflash and you may have to hexedit the needed values into it.

I am having a similar problem. I have created a MS-DOS Boot disk and placed the firmware files on. I enter the command > mtkflash r/m orig.bin. I then have the optons of selecting the drive i choose to select the master and get the error 'ERR: fail to open output files'. What am i doing wrong i have a VIA Chipset which clearly recognises my samsung dvd drive. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your computer is having trouble writing to the floppy disk, try a different 1

I have the same problem. Can anyone help us? My mainboard is a Asus A8V Deluxe with Via VT 8237. It should be perfectly compatible with Mtkflash... but it doesn't. Why?? What fw version do you have? maybe you have not ms25, so you have to trick a little to dump it.

My firmware version is: ms25 Model: TS - H943A / MCAH H /W : 005 Ver. A October 2005 Note: On the box is written Ms25, but in the bios i've read ms22! |

If you read ms22 in motherboar/satacontroller bios, you have ms22.
I don't know if ms22 has something like a "dump protection" as ms19, anyway you can try the bad flash recovery methods:
stop when mtkflash asks what drive to choose, poweroff the drive, poweron again and choose it in the same time. Try it several time.
