how do we get the rev 2 of the iXtreme 1.2 for Hitachi's on the 78? I cant seem to change the specific firmware to flash my drive in with Maximus Toolbox. is it really meant so the toolbox can only flash the drives with only one preloaded firmware? or is it a universal flasher like C4eva's and i just dont know how to load it with the new firmware correctly? thanks!

yes i have read the tutorial and the only way to patch your original firmware is by selecting within a list of pre-loaded hacked firmwares. the smart patch feature doesnt allow to select outside of that list. but i remember someone saying that they were able to edit the program and load v2 in place of v1

so what are u tring to select?
Dont you want the new ixtreme fw? if not then just use the old version or what ever
but i used the fw toolbox 4.0, my 78fk drive, and the new 1.2 rev.2 fw and it all went great

i have done 3 78's with maximus's great tool very easy to do. first dump the fw, then open it with fwtb and choose the options from the pulldown menu at the top.

when i load up the fw toolbox 4.0, i first restored my drive to its original firmware, then i loaded up the original firmware and went to Tools->Smart Hack Patcher but from that list the latest firmware is "i-XTREME12_0078+_V1" which is the first iXtreme 1.2 that was released for Hitachi 0078, not revision 2. how were you able to patch your original firmware based off the changes in rev 2? did you use the "Create Multibank Firmware" option?

I believe you are correct, same problem here, and as far as I can tell the FW's are hardcoded.

There is no revision 2 for the 78/79, memdump only exists in older drives.

Well that sure would explain the lack of mention of 78/79 in any r2 documentation...lol, thanks dude.

FYI, just spoke via msn to a mod over at xbox-scene, he reiterated what jas0nuk said.

Another FYI, the blob posted how he got 1.2r2 on a 78fk in the other thread: Grab the 1.2v2 iXtreme and fw and open it with fw toolbox and copy keys from your orig.bin then flash Its also interesting to note that the official 1.2r2 package does indeed include a specific 78fk and 79fk firmware file...if there was no difference you would think no versions for those drives would be included...though I know c4eva has been trying to keep all firmwares at the same version...

I just downloaded the standalone package for iXtreme 1.2 v1 and compared the 78_16.bin file in that to the one in the 1.2 v2 package, and they are identical, which seems to support what jas0nuk said earlier in the thread.

yeah i just used UltraCompare on the 78.bin files in both packs and they are indeed identical (unlike all the xx_s.bin files in the pack) making me agree with most here that the rev 2 really didn't effect 78fk drives. well i guess im gonna go ahead and flash it with the toolbox tomorrow, thanks!

well with the new iXtreme released for TS drives just now, i was wondering if the iXtreme for Hitachi have the same problem? i.e. doesnt stop the sending of bad information to xbox live when a non-stealth disc is put into it? im asking this because if the Hitachi's are the same (especially the 078's since thats what I have) then im gonna hold off playing any games untill the iXtreme update for Hitachi's roll out.
