Btw. It don't stop at Windows boot screen, it didn't loading windows just flashing _ after "Boot from CD" Tongue

Why aren't you using Slax? which is made to just put it into modeb and let you reboot into windows afterwards... backtrack2 may be  ideal for other things like wifi hackin' or whatever but i'm not sure if it's ideal for putting the hitachi into modeb unless you were a guru and knew excatly what you were doing.... With slax you need to login w/ root then pass toors  then type in restart and let it restart gracefully instead of just flickin the switch cuz that prolly is where it kicks it outta of modeb? Not sure tho... Just get Slax ;-)

Yeah it sure is based on Slax tho this one is special made / custom made for just putting the drive into ModeB you should see when it does that after booting off it and then it'll most likely  stop at spinning............. when you see that  look up a few lines.. Should see ModeB enabled! something like that.... Then at that point when it's stuck at spinning..... just eject the drive and then login as root and toor and then type in reboot and then it should be flashable from this point on unless you've flashed it before with a older firmware which may still have firmguard on it.. In that case pop in the enable 0800 Disc for 20 secs then eject then it should let you flash it.

the sheer fact that you mentioned firmguard and 0800 with hitachi lead me to believe you do not know what you are talking about.............

use slax 2.1 for hitachi and update your sata drivers for best results.

sodtvare only flashing is not possible on 0079fk drives, not with out hardware modification.
It has its own trick, you got 2 options...

1. get a 79 flash key...  It will allow you to flash with software, but requires flash key to be soldered on the drives board... (doooo  a gooooooogle on it....)

2.If You are skilled enough You can desolder the flash, and use a programmer to read it.
Then You can apply patches to it with fwtb, then flash it with the programmer, and resoder..

You got no ther options...

By the way...  If anyone needs help on flashing, please...
1. drive model (samsung, lg)
2. current fw (@ms28. ...)
3. computer info (sata card/integrated sata controller)
4. methood used, write down step-by-step what did You do and what did You achived (or not)
 Post them..  IT REALY HELPS

BUT FIRST OF ALL, before doing anything...
Search the boards...
It has a nice feature, the name is "search"..  You will see it at righ hand upper corner.
Useful, so USE it.

Just AFTER You DID a search, and evrything is clear, so... You read tutorials, and others, checkt the board for possible sources of errors, and have got evrything needed for the operation, start doing anything..

This behaveing like this will end up like this :       Cheesy
Not doing so....results answer post like mine...    Cry

Up to You to choose!

The community needs YOU!
 To read before doing anything.
