I'm all for this considering my 360 drives grinds and scratches my discs at full speed. But wasn't this removed because it was detectable?

I heard about that do. I though MS would integrate that into the last dashboard update. Can you post the tricks here or pm me the link? Thx.

Still a bit doubtfull if the lower speeddrives couldn't be detected by MS though. Why did C4E first got the options out of the FW and now a special one with low speed drive is released?

Because I suspect a lot of people complained about not having it.

Yeah can imagine. But still, it was taken out because of security reasons/no detection on drive spead I guess... So why include it again and take that risk...

on #fw yesterday there was asked a question about the detectablility of the slow readspeed in this new firmware.
C4eva said that the code is also in the original firmware and that it's undetectable!

I think he didn't have the option in the first iXtreme firmwares to stay as close to original as possible, but maybe when developing the new firmware for hitachi or looking at some things for samsung found out the readspeed is undetectable.

His logic is based on the fact that some originals can spin at 4x for some of the time, so spinning at 4x shouldnt look to strange.

I don't know why the backups have to spin at a constant speed while playing.  Certainly with disk caching and system memory it doesn it need to read the dvd all the time?!

Some originals seem to speed up and slow down as needed, why don't backups do that?
