I'm sorry guys, I have searched up and down again, for this drive to see if it burns DVD+R DL media as DVD-ROM. If it doesn't, is there an updated firmware to use to burn as DVD-ROM? Any help would be appreciated, I could not seem to get any answers searching through google. Thanks in advance guys. This is my burner;

I have tried with this:

Pioneer 109
Pioneer 110
LG-4167B
LG-H10A

But I have this problem: My backups work ONLY if they have the booktype DVD+R DL
I have 6 coaster of games with the booktype set to DVD-ROM, burned on the Pioneer 109 and 110 and LG

But one time I put DVD+R DL on the LG-4167B bitsetting and THE BACKUP WORKED!
Then I burned all the other isos, that I made, with the same burner (LG-4167B) and the same booktype (DVD+R DL), now I have all my 13 original games ripped and burned and have ALL the booktype set to DVD+R DL and they ALL WORK!

I have other issues, but I think is the brand of the disks. Some works fine in all consoles, others dont boot and another freeze

I have read hundreds of posts, reread the readme.txt and everywhere I see that the booktype MUST be DVD-ROM

Can anyone gove some light on what in earth is going on?, please?

I have a NTSC xb360. and I have modified 8 xb360 for friends and family.

I think I am experiencing the same issue as you.  I burned 2 games using DVD-ROM book type on Ritek D01-01 (Memorex 2.4x) and when i put it in it spins up and sounds like it is reading it for about 10 seconds and then it goes to "Open Tray" and never launches the game.  I am burning another one right now as DVD+R DL book type like you tried to see if it works.  I'll let you guys know.  I have a NEC 3540A btw.

I tried burning Table Tennis as book type DVD +R DL and it still doesn't work.  I get the "Open Tray" message.  I am beginning to think maybe this media is just crappy.  I am going to try to pick up some verbatims.

Agreed with the above posts about the Pioneer DVR-111D.

Awesome burner...all backups work perfectly know. I used to have the DVR-108 which basically was all luck hoping the backup would work at the end of a 40minute DL burn.

GET THE PIONEER DVR-111D!!!!!!!!!! FIXES ALL YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!

I got mine for 45USD Flat at a local computer store. Well worth it as you'll see you'll be spending more on your coastered DL discs.

ok for all those guys with Pioneer 108 , or 108xl ,or A08  follow this guide and you will be able to flash your drive to a Piodata drive so it does bitsetting , piodata is the OEM for pioneer same thing just the OEM,and once flashed it will show up in "My Computer" as Piodata drive ive tested the drive and it works great !

i didnt want to go spend any more cash than i had to so i did a little research  and found the following Smiley

ok so first flash with the following firmware to make your drive into a PIODATA DVR-108DX FW1.10
firmwares are aranged by folders and the name of firmware in the rar.

to flash the drive use the following software "DVRupdate_1.0" also included

1. flash with "PIODATA DVR-108DX FW1.10"
then flash to ...

2.Piodata1.18 RPC-1 (Region Free) + 12x Ripping Speed(for pressed DVDs)Gradius

3.done Smiley hope i was of some assistance

http://rapidshare.de/files/22126107/Piodata1.18_RPC-1__Region_Free____12x_Ripping_Speed_for_pressed_DVDs_.rar.html

file you will need for the flashing stated above with all relevant software Smiley

I'm using a nec 3550 with full bitsetting support and verbatim media...works like a charm!! Tryed some philips discs at first but they tend to hang in movies.

well the sony dru710a has problems burning these discs, tried 5 memorex (riteks) and it  makes +r dl dvd-rom, swapped it out with a compusa branded benq dw1655 and it works perfect memorex (riteks). So people alot of your problems may be the burner itself and not always the booktype Sad

My Sony DRU-820A fails to burn any working backups and it also supports +r dl >dvd-rom. I went out and bought the Lite-On SHW-160P6S.. updated to latest and greatest FW...works perfect.
Spent 7 coasters on the sony..Burner makes a huge difference!

Later.

go to staples and you can buy a liteon shw-160 for about $60 and then flash with the ps09 firmware and you have one of the best burners you can get supporting tons of different media. use the booktype135 utility liteon provides and you can change the booktype on any media.
