Hi, as I read from instructions I have to switch my burner from DVD+R DL to DVDRom.

So question Is : which drives can switch to DVDRom?

I have two:

Pioneer 110 DVD DL :  it is NOT switching!
NEC  dVDdl 3500AG:  it CAN switch

Yours?

there's modified firmwares for some pioneers to support booktype switching.. also, my 109 will automatically set them to dvd-rom on DL +r media, even without modification.

Learn to use the almighty power of Google. The correct term is 'bitsetting'.

the booktype is ok, but the disk is unusually small. I'd try another blank.

I think somebody here did some illegal things, by downloading a SS that is incompatible with the game data Smiley (or downloading an ISO). Whatever you did, you're not using the SS from the same disc that the game dat was ripped from (probably PAL/NTSC conflict)

I've made a backups, Of COD2 and,  I burnt one on a Pioneer 109 after reading that it automatically set the booktype to DVD-ROM,  this disc comes up as unrecognised on my Xbox 360 dashboard.  The 360 is recognising my old Xbox backups as games, so I'm assuming I have done the firmware update ok.

I then tried burning the Disc on my laptop with an NEC 6500A drive in, this does support bitsetting to DVD-ROM, the same result the game shows up as Unrecognized disc on the Xbox360 dashboard.

Is my image faulty ?, I merged the Ss.bin with the Xtreme isobuilder360 bat file.
If the Pioneer 109 automatically sets +R Dual Layer to DVD-ROM should this work ?, or maybe i need to pick up a Pioneer 110 and put the bitsetting firmware on it

Any ideas  Cheers

the 109 works fine, there is bitsetting fw for it too, but not needed for dl, sounds like the image is not quite right, the bat file works fine, how did you make the image? make sure you have left the video partition out as per readme for xtreme, also make sure you have unlocked the drive before ripping and you have valid data in you ss.bin.

I've dumped the image through Isobuster just as in the readme file the ss.bin was dumped as described in the readme as well. Ive just done DOA4 and the same problem unrecognised disc, This was burnt on Verbatim 2.4x DL media burned @ 2.4X.  I used the ISO builder build360.bat

Could there be any chance my firmware isnt right ? or is it just a DVD image problem

Pioneer 109 works perfect. Without taken any bit settings. Just burn with CloneCD and all backups o.k.

My backups:

PGR 3
DAO 4
Ridge Racer 6
Far Cry

All are working perfect

Hello Modchipmaster , please can you tell me what firmware version you are using on the Pioneer 109, I have so far got  Four  Dual Layer Coasters
all saying "Unrecognized Disc" in Xbox 360 dashboard

My Xbox Runs originals fine and all the Dual Layer discs are Verbatim burned @ 2.4 Speed, Ive just picked up some Traxdata 2.4X for £1.50 each so my coaster will be a bit cheaper now.  Any ideas on how to get my discs working ?

Cheers

I have tried with this:

Pioneer 109
Pioneer 110
LG-4167B
LG-H10A

But I have this problem: My backups work ONLY if they have the booktype DVD+R DL
I have 6 coaster of games with the booktype set to DVD-ROM, burned on the Pioneer 109 and 110 and LG

But one time I put DVD+R DL on the LG-4167B bitsetting and THE BACKUP WORKED!
Then I burned all the other isos, that I made, with the same burner (LG-4167B) and the same booktype (DVD+R DL), now I have all my 13 original games ripped and burned and have ALL the booktype set to DVD+R DL and they ALL WORK!

I have other issues, but I think is the brand of the disks. Some works fine in all consoles, others dont boot and another freeze

I have read hundreds of posts, reread the readme.txt and everywhere I see that the booktype MUST be DVD-ROM

Can anyone gove some light on what in earth is going on?, please?

I have a NTSC xb360. and I have modified 8 xb360 for friends and family.

I have FIFA 2006 NTSC with booktype set to DVD-ROM and the message from the box is OPEN TRAY?

This one in particular was the first one I ripped, I used Isobuster to get the iso, dvdinfo to get the ss and isobuilder to get the IMAGE.000

1.- I first burned with the Pioneer 109, booktype DVD-ROM ..... It didnt work ( I read all the post I could.....) then
2.- I burned with the LG-4167B booktype DVD-ROM..... It didnt work
3.- I was showing a friend how I did it, he set the booktype to DVD+R DL for the LG, (I was desperated and let him do whatever he wanted... ) and the freaking game worked!

Then I tried another aproach:
1.- I downloaded  wxripper,
2.- found a movie with 7.81Gb (DVD 4 of Return of the King Special Edition)
3.- made the iso for ELDERS SCROLL IV OBLIVION NTSC.
4.- got the SS.BIN
5.- Inserted the ss.bin on the game.iso
6.- Renamed image.000
7.- Burned with CloneCd 5.2.8.1 on the Pioneer 110 (Booktype DVDROM)...... It didnt work.
8.- Burned with LG-4167B, (booktype set DVD-ROM).... it didnt work.
9.- Burned again with the LG, (booktype set to DVD+R DL)..... it worked.

you can see the image from dvdinfo.... I dont understand why....

hey, good find, maybe its a media related thing (posted in the xbox-scene board too).
Were all dvd+r dl copies burned in the same media?

I am using a Sony DRU 810A burner.  It automatically sets the bitrate for me.  Using CloneCD I have successfully backed up 2 of my 3 games.

I have a question though.

When using CloneCD, my buffer stays at 0%.  Is this normal?
