To those of you that tested this combination, which BIOS version did you use with the Sil3114? Was it 5.3.14? This latest version resolves compatibility issues with some CD/DVD drives. Not sure it'll make a difference, but worth trying.

I was unlucky and had 2 computers with the ICH7 chipset, I went out and got a PCI SATA adapter and could not get that to work, so I ended up looking around and found a nice tutorial on how to mod your MTKFlash to work with your chipset. I am pretty sure I got it working as the error I am getting now is it cannot write to hard drive, so I am going out to buy a floppy drive right now but wanted to post this so if anyone has a ICH7 chipset they can now use MTKflash. http://www.rapidsharing.com/8c416b3d84c23ee25ec5be36564236c7If anyone can rehost this please go for it, here is Grim187's tutorial that showed me how to make it work for my chipset. Grim187's tutorial Thanks to all the members and everyone that is working on this. I am hoping to get this all working today, I am pretty close I believe. PS. This version that I just posted DOES NOT SUPPORT ICH5, I modified ICH5 to use the settings of ICH7. Just a heads up.

no, it's not right. you have to switch the 31 and 49 around, and it has to be 0090 and 0098 at the end.

I have found a SATA PCI card that works. It has a VT6421L controller. All you have to do is use a hex edited mtkflash (I found it on the compatibility thread) and update the drivers to 520c.

Need a little help. Unable to read firmware
Been reading for days, and working on my own for hours today
Asus a8ae-le mobo sata onboard HP computer
ms readout is ven_1002 dev_4379 I/O 0x0000FF00--0x000FF07 I/O 0x0000FE00--0x000FE03 I/O 0x0000FD00--0x000FD07 I/O 0x0000FC00--0x000FC03 I/O 0x0000FB00--0x000FB0F Mem Address 0xFE02F000--0xFE02F1FF
So i went to hex memory address 00B3D6 and entered 0210794300FF00FD
Before, with the generic mtkflash, i got nothing other than IDE DVDROM drives in the list.
After i made this hexedit, and disable IDE drives, i get
1. VIA8237 Master 2. VIA8237 Slave
according to the website from HP, its a Southbridge s800, but i was just editing an eexisting entry.
I have tried booting the samsung drive on slave sata HD master, tried hotswapping with the samsung after the hdd is booted into dos
but every combo gives me the same choices, and no matter what i select, it hangs after i select.
please help! any advise would be very much appreciated. thank you

I confirm exactly what he said. I've flashed my drive with the Highpoint RocketRAID 1520 after hex-editing mtkflash, and windows will not recognize the drive. Also confirm it runs slow as hell on boot. My compusa doesn't have any of the Sil3512 chipsets, so I might see if my drive will work under windows using a 3112 chipset(I know it's confirmed I can't flash with it, but I doubt anybody has tried windows yet). I'll confirm after trying a 3112 chipset. (It's the only option I've got over the weekend so I might as well try it) [/quote]
thats great news to here I picked up the same card today and havent had any luck. the card bios keeps saying no drive detected. i've tried hex editing mtkflash which maybe is my problem.

Abit NF7-S2GNnforce2 SATA (mapped as IDE ports 3+4) - Compatible???
Hello, I was looking to hear if anybody has infact successfully flashed the xbox360 dvdrom drive with an Abit NF7-S2G Motherboard with onboard SATA. My current setup is having the Xbox360 powered on into the motherboard's Sata1, turing on the PC with a Dos Boot Disc and then switching the 1.44 floppy disck with the mtkflash and mtkflash.typ file. My problem is that I cannot get Mtkflash to find the drive. I've spent quite a few hours yesterday and the day before changing bios settings and I've reached the point to question what I'm doing wrong. Somebody....Anybody..if you have a working method to flash the Xbox360 dvdrom driveplease with this motherboard let me know what your setup is and what bios settings you have enabled/disabled. I would really appreciate it!
Current Error with Mtkflash found in the Xtreme_Package.rar wait... No Drive Detected
