I tried to read my firmware using a PCI to SATA adapter using an ALi chipset. I modified my mtkflash and it recognized the drive. But when i type mtkflash r /m orig.bin, my green light on my xbox starts to flash, and it reads the firmware and then stops. It never stops at the same time, sometime 33%, 40%, etc. Sometimes it goes to 99% and then starts again. Did anyone else had that problem?
Thanks alot!

Is your HD formatted as NTFS or FAT32, and would it be feasible to dump it to that?

My floppy only has the dos bootable files and mtkflash on it. It has more empty space than 256kb. My hd is sata and NTFS, but I could prolly plug in an ide hd formated in FAT32 but I read that we must unplug all ide drives.
Yes i tries multiples floppies.
Thanks alot for your support!

you don't have to unplug any drives. I flashed mine with 1 other DVDrom and 3 HDDs connected.

Arakon - i had to remove my windows HD from my system or mtkflash hung at 00% reading. I removed and it was fine, so re-connected to check and sure enough it hung again?!

I'm having a problem where mtkflash gets stuck at "Port: 8000, Master/Slave: b0".
Is this a compatability error or is this a different error?

Question about dos boot. Please Help~~ r(^^)r
I'm using Pentium III board yet.-_- no usb boot supported. floppy is available. and I'm using Acronis OS Selector 10.
[Question 1] If I use recommended PCI-SATA Card here(ex. [VIA VT6421L chipset card] or [ALi chipset card]), I don't need dos driver for PCI-SATA Card for dos booting? (I know that driver for Windows OS is included in most PCI-SATA Card.) Those PCI-SATA Cards can be automatically recognized in dos mode and XBOX360 DVD Drive can be also detacted?
[Question 2] I want to do dos booting by HDD(I read this method is better than floppy method.) Then, how can I make a dos boot(C partition) by hdd in my environment below?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E-IDE Physical Disk1(45GB) --- C Partition(10GB) : FAT32 - WIN98SE. --- F Partition(35GB) : NTFS - WinXP SP2(ENG Ver.)
E-IDE Physical Disk2 (10GB) --- Linux Ext3(4GB) --- Swap(1GB) --- Non Allocated(5GB)
E-IDE Physical Disk3 (200GB) --- E Partition(200GB) : NTFS - DATA(movie, mp3, iso...)
E-IDE Physical DVD-RW(Lite-on 401s@811s)
and 4 other E-IDE HDDs.(all removable by usb-ide connector) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any advice will be appreciated. Have a nice day~~~ r(^^)r

1) No drivers are necessary, in fact you should use a dos that loads no drivers at all 2) Using the HDD is better then floopy, avoid the floopy at all cost

Also use the the VIA chipset it's more stable. Don't worry about drive being detected. Just boot into dos, once in dos turn the 360 once the 360 is on disconnect the serial cable and connected to the pci card quickly. Run the dump command with a modified version of mtkflash to suit your pci card. Good Luck PS here is a video tut from earlier in the post www.n0cturnal-labs.org/philes/samsung_update.avi You should really read every single post for a thread there are endless amounts of info!

port 8000 sounds odd to me. probably an editing error in mtkflash.
