nforce 3 should be supported without any modification to MTKFLASH, just download the original without the NF4 mods to be certain that the NFORCE3 entry has been removed. Or check NF4 version with a hex editor.

Will this card work??

Serial ATA (intern + extern) + IDE combo-card with Via VT6421L + Winbond W94V002AP chip.

Can buy it for € 22,50

Assuming you're dutch, where did you find it? The card might infact work with the hex edited mtkflash posted by tbirdguy on page 4. The chipsets seem to match appart from the "L" at the end. I'm looking for this card quite a while now but I can't find any in my area. So again, where did you get it.....??

I did try hot swapping with a brand new, blank sata hard drive

well, for some reason mtkflash is reporting "drive not detected" with nothing but the samsung connected to sata 1 and the floppy disk :s

I think I found Tbirdguy's VIA 6421L with Winbond W94V002AP chip. I just grabbed the last one at Fry's in Phoenix, $30.

DETAILS:
Manufacturer: PPA Int'l: Parts, Peripherals & Accessories
UPC: 33250 00130
Fry's PLU: 3812387

It is made by a company called "PPA". However, the included documentation on the driver disc states it is really this card (re-branded?):

WBT-6020V: http://www.winbest.com.tw/6020V.htm

I can't confirm it works yet, but it is looking like I might have finally tracked down a compatible card... I'll update by tonight...

Anybody had success with an Asus K8V SE Deluxe? It has a VIA raid controller AND a promise 378 SATA controller four ports total, and both of them report hardware error then bios not loaded (meaning the sata bios) if the 360 is powered up.

I mean thats pretty sucky having two sata chipsets to choose from and neither work  Cry

I'll take the 360 to my cousins house tomorrow to try on his onboard sata.

This is for those who were interested in purchasing a cardbus/pcmcia sata that does not have a Silicon image chipset.

This SATA cardbus uses VIA VT6421 Chipset

I plan on purchasing one of these to test with.  I will post all my results.

Will a cardbus/pcmcia sata card work in DOS? I thought those cards required drivers...

I got it working! Ignore my upper post.

A guy in xscene forum who quoted another person somewhere else helped me read my firmware.

On my Asus K8V SE Deluxe I had to DISABLE the VIA "ONBOARD SATA BOOTROM", enable the Promise controller, make it IDE mode (not raid), but then here's the magic part, plug the sata cable into the SATA1 port of the VIA controller. SHEESH.

The promise boot screen loads, reports no devices (bios not loaded), but mtkflash r /m orig.bin sees the device and reads the firmware just fine! 256KB and took about 30 seconds or more.

So add Asus K8V SE Deluxe with VIA VT8237 and Promise PDC20378 (378 KX2plus) to the list of compatible chipsets using this method.

I thank you.

Well I gave the CompUSA SiL3512 a rest and picked up a HighPoint RocketRAID 1640 (HPT1103 chipset) ($120!!) at a local computer store. I didn't think it would work because it appears to only be intended for RAID, but I guess before setting up the arrays, the ports are set to normal IDE.

I had to hexedit the MTKFLASH for it to work, but once I did, it worked flawlessly without any hotswapping or any other tricks.

So thats another PCI card added to the compatibility list

The picture on Highpoint's website says that the 1640 uses the HPT1374 Chipset. Can you look at the picture and see if this is different from your card?

I have a Creative IO card with VIA VT6421L and Winbond Flash
2 SATA + 2 PATA Hard Drive

Only Floppy and DVD drive connected
When booting in dos mode, as soon as I power the XBOX, the PC freeze.
At the beginning, it was saying STACKS problem in config.sys
Increase the value to the maximum, still freeze, any ideas ?
