Team Xecuter: One more Hitachi 079 Firmware Dump Required

Team Xecuter have posted up that they require just one more Hitachi drive dump - the 4D20. They ask anyone who has this illusive dump to send it on over to them.

We require just one more - the 4D20

If you have it could you please send it to admin@team-xecuter.com

Only thing is this is probably a hardware mod with 20 wires or so. BUMMER that's worth sh!t...

Just heard through reliable channels that there will be another hardware modchip with 9 wires max. Someone on our forum is making it, one that has been in the process all the way.

Probably released any time soonish also to work on the Hitachi 79fk. And it also supports newer versions (80). Isn't that good news?!?

You'll never know it will work on future drives. 20 wires is way to much in my opinion, wondering if that 20 wires are really needed. Also, GaryOPA was working on a program to flash it using software?

if it replaces/patches the flash then yes, 20 wires is perfectly normal.

I do NOT give support by email, PM, ICQ or whatever. Anyone annoying me that way will have his balls removed. With a rusty butterknife. Slowly. And I'll enjoy doing it.

OK, well we have made a mod that completely converts the Hitachi 079 drive so that it switches to modeb (no SLAX needed) and all read / write capabilities are operational in Windows using Maximus Toolbox etc (Hopefully Maximus will now add USB support to his app for the 078 / 079 drives now as that would be perfect). This mod does NOT hack the drive so you can boot backups. We feel that any kind of hardware mod to do that is a waste of time now so it is best to update to the latest firmwares via flashing - which you currently cannot do with the Hitachi 079 (until now of course)

Thats from the team-xecuter site. If I understand correctly, this mod is only for converting the drive to be able to put the drive into mode b. Then you can flash it and either put the mod up for safe keeping, or use it to help a friend out or whatever. Thats just my take on it though.

Here is a pic:

And of course since it's not finished yet, the actual mod may look different when it is finished.

And the one I am speaking about, from this forum replaces/patches the flash as far as I understood and uses 9 wires. Nice huh?!
