Power on Xbox. Ok, splash screen shows... AHH A BLACK SCREEN! But the orange light is around the eject button, hmm... Inserted an original Halo 2 disc, rebooted xbox.. It works! Checking if the M$ Dash will load with the eject button... ERROR 21! What next!?!? I used this guide to softmod my box. Tried getting help on XS, but no1 replies I hope i get more luck here... Much help appreciated!

well if games still load and you still have exploited save on your hard drive use the same game you used to softmod in the first place 007 auf or whatever and re softmod or access via ftp and replace files on c that you hopefully have backed up

I didn't use a save game exploit. There's a link to the guide I used up there. I used xboxhdm to softmod using kingroach's ndure 3.0

oh sorry missed that a mod chip may be your only other choice or try using the same guide you used again // and or try the restore C option in the guide.

What I would advise is to build an eeprom reader (allready third time I advised this thing for xbox issues, looks like I am selling them ). The device can be used to read the mobo's eeprom (in circuit), so that you can lock/unlock your xbox HD drive. This will be the cheapest solution (3-5 Euro) to get all working again. LinkHope this helps.

why would he need an eeprom reader. the eeprom is fine. its just the dashboard cant be found, hence the error 21. a mod chip is ur best chance to fix it.

reading the guide you used. it could also possibly be the dash version that caused the black screen. but yes you will need a chip to repair it.

graydiggy since your telling him the same answer twice why not just edit your first post from a few minutes earlier?? Anyway I dont know anything about softmoding as ive never done it (it just aint as good as a chip IMO) but as bigkitty sugested why dont you just try again? just seems the dash isnt installed or its corrupt...do backed up games work? if so boot up evox from a cd to get ftp access and sort it from there
