the 59 and 70 have nothing at all to do with the dumping process itself, it simply means it expected a device code 70, but the device returned 59. as said lots of times before, you have to hexedit mtkflash for it to work.

the topic is the "dumping samsung firmware by software" or similar topic.
geremia explained in detail there how to get it working, somewhere around the 6th page I think.

yes it is, you need to adjust it to your own chipset and IDs.

no. you have to edit the mtkflash.exe with a hexeditor. read the thread, it says clearly what to do.

what good will that do you? then the next released game you want to play tells you that it will not work without a firmware update.

Why would that help? Then the console detects a failed flash and still banns you. We don't even know if they will start flashing the firmware, I doubt it.

The idea is to use a jumper/switch to manually enable and disable the write access. But im not sure how often the xbox itself writes to the flashrom (to store user settings, ...)

They will never ever ban you for a failed flash... at the most the game will refuse to play without that update. will try that switch tonight

After 3 different PC's tried, I got it detected under windows...   I have the samsung flashed with xtrm0800.bin and I am trying to retrieve the Security Sectors of different games,

I have now the SS from NTSC versions of:

Call of duty 2
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Fifa 06
Perfect Dark Zero
Condemned
Quake 4

The problem is that I re-dumped a 2nd time just for verification purposes and the 2nd versions dumped differs from the first ones !!!   There are differences on 1 or 2 bytes but now I dont know if that is "normal" or wich one of the generated versions I must patch....   Must I type the 4 cdb commands at any specific timing?  Somebody is experimenting this same results?

I was posting the hash values of my versions but I have 5 or 6 differents for each one so it is useless.

Edit:
By the way, the first one that I have dumped from Call of duty 2 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warefighter are exactly equal to the ones posted by Sniperkil on his 15 NTSC sectors package, but the 2nd ones differs and the 3rd ones and so on...

I posted somethin about it a few pages before.
anyway it's normal, it seems that the CDB commands 05 and 07 simulate the challenge type 5 and 7, where time measuring is involved, so you will have different value sometimes, just +/- 1bit

To me, the CDB commands actually retrieve the required response values from the disc, including the timed responses. I remember reading somehwere that a debug command exists in the TS firmware for this purpose. It's perfectly normal that you get different results in each try. A particular range of values is probably valid.

And like the PSP hacks will be made to the games so that they are playable under older FW, bottome line is that if it can be locked down it can always be unlocked it just takes time.

If game devs ever want to stop piracy then the prices of games and software has to be reduced, i know in my mind that i would not use pirate copies if i could buy the authentic one for a reasonable price!!!

No, this will not happen because it's impossible.

Read the rest of my post, if it can be locked down is has to be able to be unlocked
