hi sorry please can someone confirm if this the way to dump my samsund h943 f/w

is it a cas of making a dos disc with the mk flash tools on it then pluggin in my 360 to my pc turn it on then use the dos to dump my firmware or is their a better way sorry if this has been asked all day i have been reading but not never sore any thing about obtaing a dump to play with.

thank you to any1 who takes the time just to help me out littlw of getting a dump of the f/w i can do the rest but just cant a dump of the f/w

Its in the firmwares readme the method that has to be used to flash. read the very first page of this thread I believe and it explains how to do everything to make 360 backups.

To make a dump you have to flash the other firmware to the drive, then load up windows and use the software as stated. a dos floppy with the 2 firmwares and mkflash is sufficient I do believe. use the commands in DOS to flash the new firmware, do your backup as needed, shut down, reboot to the flasher, write the 360 flash to the drive. power down and test.

Specialist hacked the hitachi drive though, not the samsung - same story in the end I guess though.. Either way I am interested to see what comes the next few days, as I am stuck on the other side of the river without a paddle.. With the big MS dash update coming in short I wonder how long it will take until MS makes it almost impossible for us to play a backup without first flashing the drive with custom firmware, or bans a wave of 360 gamers for playing online with backups.

i am able to extract/flash the drive's firmware. no matter what firmware is flashed, if the 360's DVD drive is powered on when my computer's BIOS is loading, it locks up. with the Xtreme0800 firmware, i power on the 360 while my bootloader is running (before windows starts loading) and the drive is successfully detected in windows. once in windows, the drive is listed as a CD drive when no disk is inserted, and as a DVD-Video disk with the title "XBOX360" when ANY disk is in the drive, whether xbox disk or not. is this the same for those of you who have been able to rip originals?

also, i believe i am able to successfully extract the security sectors as the tutorial suggests, but the 'unlocking' step (sending cdb FF 08 01 01) appears to do nothing. the disk still appears as a DVD video disk. any suggestions? anyone else have this problem?

update:

the TOC first loaded after windows starts is the one that is always shown whenever a disk is in the drive. for example:
-boot with a PC game disk in the Xtrm0800-flashed drive. windows correctly shows the contents
-eject the disk. windows correctly shows the drive is empty
-insert an xbox 360 game disk. windows reports that the original PC game disk is still in the drive

also, and i believe this is the same problem, unlocking the drive with DVDinfoPro does not cause the xbox game data to be shown. it still shows the DVD video files. any suggestions? anybody else have this problem?

OK I hexed in the SS into the null space, Reflashed the drkve and woh yes we have success

I used my pc dvd-rom drive to get into DOS, and had mtkflash on an IDE fat32 drive.

Ill just like to mention anyone with via & promise sata controller

in order for it to work, unplug all other sata drives, the sata boot mode needs to be IDE not RAID - and via SATA BOOT ROM must be disabled, finally the disc drive must be connected to a via port not promise.

Ok, so I've got as far as having the drive recognized in Windows, loaded a game and then I run DVDInfo Pro (v4.56). I select "Send Custom Command" from the dropdown list and the CDB window flashes on the screen and then disappears???

Is it me, the version I'm using or something else???

Thanks...

Well, I don't know about you, but I've got a pretty good understanding about how the hack works Smiley Basically all there is to it: the xbox sends challenges, the drive sends responses and reads those either from disc of from the SS. if the responses match the ones that are in the encrypted part of the SS, that are sent to the xbox, then the DVD boots. So bascially all there is to it, is letting these responses match.

I haven't tried it myself, but I really wouldn't know what would be missing here, seems perfectly logical to me .... Quoted from the wiki on this site:
Quote
The DVD authentication works like this: After a disc is inserted, the drive checks to see if it is a ‘double layer DVDROM’. If this is the case, it reads sector $FD021E. This sector is called the ‘security sector’ (SS). The drive performs some basic checks on the disc. The xbox sends a first ‘mode sense’ and ‘mode select’ command to the drive, mainly to see if these basic checks on the disc passed. If so, the xbox issues a ‘read DVD structure’ command to the drive, to ask for a part of the security sector. This part contains a challenge/response table for the xbox. The xbox verifies the signature for the table, decrypts the table and starts issueing challenges to the drive. The drive descrambles another table from sector $FD012E (using the ‘challenge’ that is in the sector header of this sector, the ‘CPR_MAI’ field), containing the responses.
The xbox issues the challenges with a ‘mode sense’ and reads the ‘responses’ from the drive with a ‘mode select’. If all responses that the drive sends match the responses in the table that the xbox recevied, the xbox assumes an original DVD is in the drive.

And for the 360:
Quote
The authentication protocol is basically the same as the xbox 1 (see xbox 1 info in this wiki. However, the 360 uses a few different ‘challenge/responses’ types. Some responses are being read from disc. See the ‘challenge and response protocol’ thread by Robinsod.

I am not going to quote stuff from that thread, you can look it up yourself. Anyway, to me, it all perfectly makes sense (and I am not even a diehard hacker Smiley )

Yes, reading that 'other' board can be quite funny.

Huh OK, I've spent most of the day looking for the Xtrm0800.bin firmware in all the usual places and don't seem to be able to find it anywhere! Asking for the software is against the rules, so if anyone wants to share in my frustration, please email your sympathy to mebigdave@gmail.comRoll Eyes

I do have a question regarding playing originals once the drive has been flashed with the custom firmware. My understanding is that you backup the original firmware and then extract the DVD key. Then flash it with the Xtreme0800.bin firmware so that you are then able to backup the original and then flash it with the original firmware to play the game. Does this sound right?

Hello Everybody..
I just want to confirm that this firmware is great, I just backed up my Ghost Recon, flashed the xtreme firmware with my key inserted in
and the game just booted fine, there's a little delay at the first screen then it worked just like the original does, also I noticed
that the DVD drive of the 360 is running with a lower noise then it does with the original Disc,I made sure of this and that's true.

Thanks for the author of this hack, the moderators and all other helpfull users..

Regards.

Ok my bios detects the TS H943, on "Third Channel Device 0" PIO MODE [AUTO] DMA Mode [AUTO] SATA MODE: Sata-I (1.5gbps)

When it boots from floppy I'm left at the A:\> I type "mtkflash r /m orig.bin" and then it comes up with:

Port: 170, Master/Slave: a0

Or "No Drive Detected"

(blinking curosor here)

And does nothing...  Any suggestions?
