I patched my firmware using the kdx patcher. originals and movies work fine. but i cant get the backups work.
I noticed when i opened the xtreme_proper firmware that between 4000 and 4200 is nothing but the key,
and in my backup.bin (orig) there is much more. and in my kdx patched xtreme_proper.bin there is only the key.
now if i would do the patching manually and copy all from 4000-4200 there would be much more info on the new
patched xtreme_proper.bin .... so could this be my problem ? should i do a reflash with manually copied data to the xtreme_proper.bin
Huh

If originals are working, your key is in the correct location. The data surrounding it is dummy data, and unrequired. The problem you have  is with your backup.  Wink

Check the sizes of the .bin's, they should be 256kb.  Do it manually, and make sure you overwrite the data and not insert the data (data from $4000-$4200).

just copy from 4000 on your original key until you get all ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff then open up the xtreme.bin and put the marker on the first byte in 4000 (usually 01 ) and paste straight over it and then save it.Now flash it ;to your ts and we will see you on live Smiley

The same thing happened to me and I don't know what the problem was.  I restarted the computer and tried one last time (3rd try) and it dumped just fine.  I also noticed that when I was dumping it before, the screensaver had come on while I was away from the computer.  The last time, I did not allow the screensaver or anything else to interfere with the dump.

i got my backup working...loading is though much slover than on the original. im using Fujifilm with media code RICOHJPND00 same as DVD+R DL 8,5 GB Ridisc 2,4x .

1.  if the media code is same is the dye same ?
2.  could the slower loading time be a couse of my use of kdx, are you shure c-s-b that the additional data doesnt have a meaning in the firmware ? ( check my post on this page

I created my first copy on pc but havent burned it yet.  Waiting on my new dvd burner to come in.  At any rate.  When I was extracting the game, I did not get any errors.  It was The Outfit.  Will this be ok?  And when I used ISOBUSTER when it asked me where to save the file the extension it wanted to use was TAO but I saved it as ISO like the instructions said.  Is this fine as well?

This is fine. All of my backups didn't produce any error messages, and i saved the files as .ISO instead of .TAO, all of em work just fine!(6/6 No coasters) Smiley

Ok just out of curiosity.   Does it absolutely have to 100% be set to dvd-rom.  Has anyone tried it without?  The dvd burner in my kids pc doesnt support bitsetting of dvd dl.  I have a new drive on its way.  Just too anxious to wait.  I have some DL's on the way too since I only have 3 here.  I might go ahead an give it a try.  MAYBE...

but did you set your dvd burner to burn it as a dvd-rom?

EDIT:  It worked.  As far as I know dvd-rom booktype isnt needed.  As far as I can see.  It worked fine.

It doesnt support changing it tho.....From what I can find about NEC dvd burners that supposedly ALL of them only support dvd-rom on dual layer.

Quote
Q: Do NEC drives support bitsetting, also known as booktype modification?
A: Official NEC branded firmware generally only supports DVD-ROM bitsetting for DVD+R DL discs. For single layer DVD+R and DVD+RW bitsetting, you will need to flash to an OEM firmware (such as an HP or Mad Dog fw) or a modified firmware with bitsetting support added in. Check the NEC forum for details on specific firmware versions and their bitsetting capabilities.
