the 109 will always set it to dvd-rom on +R duallayer media, with all firmwares.
Pioneers can also be flashed with piodata firmware because the piodata drives are just rebadged pinoneer drives, but their firmware allows the users to set the booktype manually. But as stated before, all dual layer pioneer burners automatically set DL medial booktype to dvd-rom dl, I guess us pioneer owners are just lucky Most burners do that so your not so lucky =) EDIT: Maybe someone can answer my q.. If my key is @ 4444 should i paste the key in xtreme.bin @ 4444 also? Isit the firmware that knows the location or the 360 itself?

I'm havin no luck searching or if someone knows of a better or easier way to do it than they did, please reply. Thanks I was searching for one too, what I did is that I have opened about 10 broken PC CD/DVD drive with no luck.. then from about 30 minutes I found one that is used for the Bios on an old broken motherboard ( PC CHIPS M848 ) I will desolder it and try the multi-firmware mod too coz i'm sick of refalshing the firmware every time I need to make a backup.... I will also check later for the SST chip that is used with the xbox1 Aladdin Advance modchips, I have plenty of them that I used to flash with different bioses... I hope it have the same number..that will be great Also I will try to extend this mod in order to install an external Sata cable from the 360 Samsung (I will think of a way to attach 2 Sata cables to the 360 drive at the same time, the original 360 cable and a second one used for attaching it to PC ) by the way is there a male Sata socket available ( like the one that is on the PC motherboard itself ) ?!? So having 2 firmwares available ( one for playing backups and the second for extracting and dumping ss.bin ) with an external switch installed somewhere on the back of the 360 and a male Sata connector beside it is my current project.. Then I can re-assemble my console and still play/backup at the same time. Anyone who have better ideas to improve this mod please feel free to share the info in the forum.. Regards..

CloneCD says: "Image doesn't fit on destination Disc! Space available 8256 MByte Space required: 8152 MByte" And gives me the option to overburn or write to the end of the disc. Is this right?
obviously youd want to write till the end of disc.i mean its telling you that you have 8256 mb available, thats more than is required.i dont know why it says image doesnt fit.maybe its a bug There is a bug in the software. They have the "Space Available and Space Need" reversed. I put in a 4.7 gb cd and it said I had a 8.5 gb in the rom. yup, exactly what i thought,a damn bug MIne is only reading like a single layer saying i have 4.3 gb of space available when actual 8.5gb with both layers.... My burner is a sony 820a anyone have sucess with these?

i'm still trying to figure out if the cloneCD "bug" but is limited to the different DVD drives (and only some people are experiencing it) or if everyone just ignores it and burns anyway. is there another way to reliably burn the image.dvd file?

snakerus you say that its reading a single layer, does your burner support dl writing? are you using the image.dvd provided setting the layer break?

Is there any way of getting the security sectors off a disk using a pc drive and the swap method??
I have searched and cant find the answer
The wx ripper is exellent way to rip disks but it dosnt work to get the ss.bin
if not can we create a topic just containing ss.bin files i think that would be okay as its just a file containing the location of bad sectors, i dont like the idea of flashing my 360 drive everytime i need to backup a disk

No, only the modified 360 drives have the capability to read the security sectors.

Maybe someone can answer my q.. If my key is @ 4444 should i paste the key in xtreme.bin @ 4444 also? Isit the firmware that knows the location or the 360 itself? I personally took every byte, starting from 4000 until the end of my key, and copied it over into the xtreme firmware.

unfortunatly (as I understand it) the 'security sectors' are actually the responses to the challenges and not the original security sectors that are on the disk, thus they must be captured from a 360 drive.
As for posting the ss, that would be illegal!

okay im sure its not illigal though correct me if im wrong but its not part of a copyright
how much easier would it be if we had an archive of ss.bin files
then we could just use wxripper and put the case back on our 360's

theres no question about it being easier, the problem is that its all people need to play illegal copies instead of backups. whilst its not copyrighted code, it came from copyrighted media. thus it is a copyright infigement to distribute is it not? I'm sure given time they will appear!

Uhu an archive would defently be the solution, but the only way to get such a thing up and runnig would be to gather as much as ss.bin files as possible and to distribute these packages on p2p and usenet while updating them continiously. The best part is that that's already happening. I've already downloaded a few of these packages with pal and ntsc ss.bin's on usenet. So as long as we keep updating and reposting those packages we'll have our archive.

Wouldnt it be easier to buy an extra TS drive and build that power adapter that Wunsick worked up and just keep it permanently in your pc? That is what I am considering. Then you could leave the xtreme0800 firmware on there.

Anyone here test this with a plextor burner? Does anyone know if the Plextor 755sa supports bitsetting? From what I can tell DvDinfoPro doesn't support changing bitsetting on a plextor drive.
Also what type of media have you guys tried? Do you think Memorex will work?
