If anyone is looking for a cheap SATA card, how about this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815124023? -ElijahX (it is based off VIA VT6421L chipset, not sure if that works or not.) EDIT: I see the onboard VIA chipset works, so I am guessing this does too.

For the person who had a problem with windows freezing at bootloader when 360 drive was plugged in. (After successful flash of xtrm0800.bin right?) The same thing happened to me, but not the first time. After a successful flash and reboot, I was able to boot into Windows and windows was able to "SEE" the drive, but not read it. I couldn't even eject the tray. While my computer was still in Windows, I turned off my 360 (killing power to dvd drive.) At this point Windows froze (couldn't even move mouse cursor.) After a forced reboot, Windows would hang at a faded bootloader screen (Windows xp boot screen.) If I let it sit there for a while maybe 2 mintues it would eventually boot. Windows did not list the drive in "My Computer" anymore. So then I checked the Device Manager and saw there was a problem (!)yellow exclamation mark next to my VIA Raid SATA Controller. I tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling it but that didn't work. I also noticed my sata hard-drive wasn't working either (makes sense since there was a problem with the controller) I turned off both console and computer. Then I left the console off and powered up my computer. After booted fine, and there was no longer a problem with the sata controller. When I turn on the console, it doesn't work again. (This is running on a Asus k8v-x motherboard) Luckily I have another computer (Hp with sata lying around) I figure what the hell and try it out. So I plug the sata cable into the HP, windows fires right up and detects the drive. I then am able to make an image of my Tomb Raider game. So here is what sucks... I can flash the fw with my asus board, but not the board of my HP. My hp can detect the drive (once fw is flashed with xtrm0800) but my asus board can't. I'm so glad I had another computer I hope this help someone. I have this burner http://www.plextor.com/english/products/755SA.htm This should work to burn the image right? What brand media do you guys use, and have been tested? (People that have booted their successful backups) **When I ripped my Tomb Raider game, I didn't get any errors where I needed to fill sectors with 0's. It just went all the way through. Is this normal?

i did all the steps and it didnt work, for some reason it leads me to believe that it is for pal consoles only. beacause when i try to boot an original it tells me to put the game into a 360 console. i've had that screen come up once before i even flashed the drive and a simple reset fixed the issue. im very confident that i did all the steps right. the screen that comes up is white with bunch of different languages telling me to put it into a 360. someone can help me???

Sounds to me like you probably got your key a little wrong. Anyway what do i know I have my own problem too. I have flashed the drive successfully and originals work fine. Therefore the key must be fine and dandy. My problem is that my backup of Tomb Raider will not work. It boots to the very first splash screen and then I get a disc read error. i have reburnt the same image onto a different brand of media and the same happens, media was burnt at 2.4X. Any positive suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you running things in the background while you burn? Maybe do a clean restart and kill open processes?

I`m VERY VERY happy you would like to help me!!!!!!! BUT if I do EXACTLY what you said, KDX is giving me the SAME key!! What I did: opened an ORIGINAL firmware pathed it with KDX (just made a little change) Then I tried to copy the code from the pathed KDX to the original one. But the code didn`t changed when I check with kdx do you know why?? (I followed your notes EXACTLY!) EDIT: Is it always 4000-4200?? And is it normal that kdx can`t recognize the changement?

Having problems booting xbox 360 dvd drive with xtrm0800.bin flashed on it. My bios detects the 360 drive. My problem is when I try to boot up windows with my 360 dvd drive plugged in and turned on the windows loading screen freezes and I can't load windows. As soon as I unplug the 360 drive everything works again. I have tried plugging in the 360 drive when windows is loaded but also freezes/no response. I have tried many combinations between my 4 sata ports. I have been able to do everything but try to create my own backups because I can't get windows to load with the drive plugged in.
I have a DFI Nforce 4 Ultra Chipset I have a sata2 harddrive All raid is disabled Was able to do orignal dump and hacked firmaware flash sucessfully Atleast I can play originals but unable to test backups becuase of this problem
ANy help? TIA
I have the exact same problem. I have 1pc with sil3112, and 1 with onboard nforce4 sata There are 2 steps which are nessecary. 1- read and write to dvd drive 2- work with drive under windows (use cdb commands to unlock drive and read SS) I can use onboard nforce4 sata to read and write firm to my drive but it hangs when booting to windows with 008 firm on my 1st pc with sil3112 I cannot read write but I can boot into windows. The drive is detected and video part is visible however when using many versions of dvdinfopro I can only use the SS commands but not the Unlocking command, so I cannot unlock the drive to see the data files. My question is: Can someone post a setup mobo/chipset/pci sata adapter/ sata-pata converter, in which both steps work. So read/flash and use cdb command successfully thnx
