so a bit ago like almost a month now when i turned on my 360 it froze withing seconds usually only last up to a minute but near th end was freezing after like 4 seconds
then at some point i opened it up and when everything was completely cool i turned it on and it froze like in 5 seconds so i turn it off and go to touch everything and the thing under the dvd drive (my noob ass can not remember the name) was extremely hot if i had left my finger there for more than a 3 second it would have burned
so i figured since this site it filled with geniuses i thought that somebody here could help anybody have any idea on how to fix this or what is causing it ?

GPU? Probably should go with AS5 compound - It's probably overheating like every other POS M$ hardware out there.

either...you have not screwed in ALL the screws (when the console is not grounded properly it will give an overheating error)

OR

there is an SMD capacitor missing/cracked/gone on the back of the board on the cpu or gpu...re solder it or screw in the screws and it will work again Wink

Alright well if you never took the screws out....then it's DEFINENTLY an SMD capacitor....there about say 2mm in size and there an orange browinsih, solder on another one where the broken one is and it will definently work

Well it's not a ball as such, errm it could be classified as gold-ish...you CAN re-attach it (assuming you know what your doing, otherwise you'll cause more damage) as long as the pads on both ends are still there (in which most cases that i've dealt with...they aren't).  It's best if you replace it with a new one (see if you can get one from another xbox 360...or an old xbox...principal is, exact same colour...exact same size, you can use it Wink )
