I am too much used to flash24s.bat , that I lost control about what I really am doing.

I have:

- Xbox360 with Hitachi 46DH, with defective controller board
- Good controller board from a Hitachi 59 drive
- Original firmware on CD-R of the Hitachi 46DH drive

I did:

- Put the good controller board in the Hitachi 46DH drive

First question:

1) Will this work ?

Second question:

2) What are the commands to get it working ?
(With Toolbox, a dump did not work, but in Windows, the drive can be seen).

Thanks in advance.

i am not 100% sure but i think thatthe toolbox can error out on hitachis other than 78/79, and i would prefer to do it manually so you know what is going on.

there is a method to switch the keys manually in dos, which i made a tutorial on.

you can find it http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=other&file=Hitachi_Key_Insertion_Tutorial_v1.2.PDF

any help needed give me a shout.

I thought I solved the problem with:

"I solved the problem with:

1) I installed the new V59 controller board, and did:
restore.bat d
to make sure the original firmware is there

2) Then I dumped the firmware of the V59 controller board.
memdump_win d 12200 8 8000 orig59.bin

3) I started "360FW-Toolbox-31B-Repack" by double clicking "360FwTb".

4) I opened the original firmware from the CD-R in order to get the key, which need to be placed in
the firmware. I clicked on ... next to "Open a Firmware File First...", and opened original.bin from the CD-R.
Then I copied the key, and put it in Notepad:

17F818B439DCD0F56102D45ECADD716B

5) I restarted Toolbox, and opened previously dumped orig59.bin
Replaced the key with the key, that came from the firmware on CD-R
- then clicked on the button "Replace Key"
- then clicked on the button "Generate Encrypted File..."
The firmware was written as "orig59-e.bin".

6) Then I wrote the firmware to the V59 controller board with:

flashsec_win d orig59-e.bin 90004000 1000

7) Then I ran from GaryOPA 2.4 :
flash24s.bat d 280507
"

It was working !!!!!

Was......

After 5 minutes, I turned the Xbox360 off, and started again.

I got 3 lights of death, with error code 0021 HuhHuhHuhHuh??

0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard.

What the f***

ok, I restored original firmware with restore.bat script.

First time I got 0020 error, then only 0021 errors:

0020 (Not yet known, possibly overheating)
0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard.

What do you think caused these problems.

to quote myself

" I am not 100% sure but i think thatthe toolbox can error out on hitachis other than 78/79, and i would prefer to do it manually so you know what is going on"

it has been spoke about before that the toolbox can brick older hitachis other than 78/79

my manual method never bricks your drive as you are simply patching the key manually.

unfortunately now you have a bricked drive, the internal read routines have been overwritten probably and the only way to fix it is to program the eeprom externally or use the infectus chip to reprogram the FW with a complete working image.

very sorry i didnt get my advice to you sooner.

hmm read you post and my last post and seen that i am talking crap in my loast post so please ignore it lol.

it seems you followed the manual process desribed in my tut, and still have got problems. the key flashing process may have been interrupted or corrupted which has caused your drive to fail.

you are fortunate enopugh to have all the keys involved, so it is not as bad a situation as it could be.

the eeprom on the board could be removed and reflashed externally, or the new infectus modchip has the ability to reflash the eeprom on the board.

only way i can see to resurrect the v59 drive.

I could restore the original firmware, and modify it with GaryOPA 2.4 without any problems.
No errors were seen.

After that backups can be played again :-)

Strange was, that 1 day ago, I replaced the SATA cable in order to flash a ms28 drive.
Maybe the SATA cable, for the connection to my PC, was the problem.

Strange, strange, strange.

I tested the Xbox360 again. Turned it on, 3 lights of death again, with error 0020 :

0020 (Not yet known, possibly overheating)

Turned it off, turned it on again, and was working again without errors.....

It is getting more strange.

I did the following test a few times:

-> Turned the Xbox360 with backup (Xbox360 backup on DVD+R DL) inside

1) Working
2th attempt) 3 lights of death, with error 0021:
DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard.
3) Working
4th attempt) working

Has somebody any idea ?

Please reply to http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=7728.0

I think it is another problem, so that is why I opened a new topic.
