Sorry I just had to get some humor added in here. Legends make them sound so old.

Well I getting there almost 40, and been in this scene for 20 years now.
Anyone up for a game of Atari PONG, I think I still have mine in the attic!

Gee Garyopa you have been in the scene the same time as me...I first started off in the Commodore 64 scene in groups such as Hotline , Legend and Talent......They were the best years....I can just remember  cracking and dumping cartridges to c64 disk drive....And not forgetting those multi loaders from cassette tape to disk drive..........Atari Pong best game out....Should be released for the xbox 360......

Is the Betatest running?

Sounds like GaryOPA could be a member at vintagegames.se - but as it is in Swedish it might be difficult.

As I'm a few years younger, I started with the little more advanced Pong - Fairchild Channel F. I've been programming some for it, I collect the games and I am also writing my thesis paper about it...  Built a few multicarts, programmed Pac-man (almost 100% done) together with a fellow retroprogrammer and soe other stuff. It's a bit tricky only having 64 bytes of RAM... (yes 64 bytes).

I hope someone breaks the 360 soon - so that I can run MESS on it.   :-D

I would love a GaryOPA autographed 360!!!

P.S. Don't forget to take your medication, it's not all a conspiracy.    Undecided

First i didnt bought it at wallmart... i bought it in a music land store is like a tower records here.
And second the BOX was never Opened, i retired the warranty seal of the box with my own fingers when i have it in my house.
So, i can confirm that the 360 was never ever used before me.

You do realize how easy it is to remove a warranty seal without voiding it right? Any hairdryer and 2 minutes will do the trick. Your 'proof' is not so much proof as it is ignorance to the scheme's out there.

I will paypal you 5 dollars if you post a screenshot of your console, that says its banned, while holding up a note that says "I love spain".

Because i really dont believe you Smiley You have 2 hours to complete this task for your reward. Without compliance, you obviously are a fraud .

Indeed, that guy could even be some MS employees trying to interfere with progression made everywhere. Just to spread more distortion in the ongoing process and to scare people of.

At this time, this guy is a pretty isolated incident. Which make it:

1. A 360 that HAS been opened without having one scratch on the warranty seal (a blow dryer is like taking gum of hot asfalt, there is a much better way I will not put here because of obvious reasons)
2. This guy is a MS employee or someone who thinks it's funny to bull around
3. Just uses bad stealth backups

And if not, give some serial PM it to Gary and try to get seriously helped instead of just negative postings

full of $#!t i think he is....

it does make you mad when you dont have to use this firmware these guys spend numerous hours working on, buy the origonals instead and leave the firmware flashing to people with gratitude who are prepared to take the risk.

P.S. i'm still not banned....

hitachi 47 with 2.3 installed, never played a backup online, not even had 1 in the drive when using marketplace or with ethernet connected. this is why i dont think the disc info is being stored in the box......of course i might just be lucky!

i think its a data collection jobbie which then explains people with unmodded machines getting banned for downloading wrong region marketplace games i.e u.k downloading aegis wings results in a ban
sorry dude i think yr full of it or maybe a m$ employee trying to make c4e` opa`s job harder

I don't gelieve the Aegis Wings story. I can 'prove' this with the following situation:

I have a modded 360 and downloaded Aegis WIngs on my USA account (I am living in Europe). A friend of mine has a nonmodded 360 and also downloaded that game on his USA account.

I was banned, he is not. Although there is still a slim chance he will be banned for that game, don't think they'll do it. MS also said they will prevent to download specific stuff with foreign accounts (like video's) but won't ban you for it.

GaryOPA and C4Eva signed XBOX 360's probally would sell better than the Elite has......LOL. I would pay $600 for one. What do yea say guys? but it must include pre-installed 360 Blaster. Could be looking at a new product line here, maybe just the signed 360 case instead. Something like the Limited Edition 360.

no no we need to make it easyer , just the face plates should be signed Smiley nothing illegal about that , just some signatures required, but to be shure they are authentic, maybe only one retailer could  distribute the official signed face plates Smiley Grin this would be sweet , we should also include The Specialist , in my humble opinion, but i know there were others aswell !

I know The Specialist did a lot of work in his thread, but didn't he refuse to release to the scene?  No disrespect but i wouldn't want that signature.

Uh, it wasn't worth it to him to risk imprisonment?

He handed the scene the firmware on a silver platter by not only advancing the original threads with his technical insight, but also proving the concept in his own lab. I'm sure he made sure the right people knew the right information in order to get the information out there so that a scene release could be possible as well, just read the original threads from last Nov/Dec... I think how he handled it was brilliant if you ask me  Roll Eyes

Agreed, the specialist has done work I would surely want his signature on mine also. You can't blame a guy for wanting to protect himself. We all owe it to these guys to protect them as much as we can and what they have accomplished. I for one deeply appreciate all of them. For me its not money that I hack and mod its the thrill and joy of taking the lid off and seeing what can be created or made better through cumulative ideas. I have been an Engineer for over 15 years and I have seen first hand how things are designed to deliberately fail from some of the lagest businesses in the world like, Caterpillar , John Deere and others all in the effort to produce larger revenues through part replacement and "service contracts".

Show some respect for one of the forerunners of the scene.  "No disrespect" just doesn't cut it.

One great example of the determination to the scene that he has is the HDD stuff.  He started with nearly the same information as you and I about the workings of the hard drive.  But, instead of waiting around for somebody else to fix it, he did some research on his own and got it all figured out.

And he certainly did drop enough breadcrumbs in the DVD firmware hacking to allow others to step up.

To not appreciate all that The Specialist did because he didn't release any illegals is like not appreciating Bunnie's work on the Xbox 1 for the same reason.

As for signed faceplates, bleh.  I think Microsoft has enough stuff "signed" on our boxes as it is. Wink

I'd rather just count the contributions of these guys as signature enough.  If you feel like buying a signed faceplate, perhaps a donation to these dudes is in hand instead.

my 2 cents

personally i would take f***ingbans problem with a huge pinch of salt. i smell a m$ employee trying to spread confusion. sorry if you are not, but your story just doesnt fit the rest of the experiences in the scene.

to the pioneers like the specialist, c4eva and garyopa who work for nothing, and risk everything so we all can play together, i personally take my hat off to them and thank them for al their efforts.

And I think anyone who gets banned and cries like a little bitch, should not be allowed to speak to them in this forum and should be permabanned for their ignorance.

Keep up the amazingly tireless work guys and dont listen to the arseholes dotted around the scene there are plenty of us who appreciate your work.
