I just bought a new 360 pal version with a 360 globe chip. And i want to conect to xbox live.
i heard that microsoft is banning a lot of live users becouse they playing backups discs.
so i have a few questions that i dont understand yet.
im new in this xbox live thing so please dont get mad at me if i ask stupid questions.

1)If i understand right .The bannings began after an update from xbox live, why do peaple needed that update to begin with if everything was working without the new update. Or the update is necessary for playing new games just like in psp?
2)There is 1 or maybe 2 games that i want to play in xbox live. So if i will play the 2 games on xbox live with  original discs, and the rest of the games(backup discs) i will play offline. would it be okay with the globe 360 chip i have?

1. Updates are mandatory but you can be banned even without having updated. It looks as though the ban code was introduced either in the 2006 Fall Update or else the security patch in January 2007.
2. You'd have to be completely mad to go anywhere near Xbox Live with a hacked machine in the short term.

required. if you don't have the most recent dash, you can'T go online at all.

wrong mate, chip users have also been banned,
your best bet is to stay away from Live with your modded machine.

people have been banned playing original games using modified firmware (chips are no diffrent)
if your not that bothered about Live, you could turn your chip off and play and if you get banned report back.

Quote
To turn on Xbox 360 with the Globe 360 Mod Chip in off mode, "quick-tap" the power button. LED will be off.

you can take a chance or stay away it's your choice mate.

If i will play live and will be baned... is this means i wont be able to play xbox 360 at all and just throw it to garbage or something like that? Or the ban is only applys to the live account and i will be able to play offline?

from all the info gathered so far he's not even safe if he's only playing originals on live as long as his drive is modified.

atm i see only 2 ways:

if u already have modded the drive then either do whatever you want and hope u don't get banned (you probably will)

or flash back the drive to original state, play only originals and hope it's not too late...

keeping the drive modded and playing only originals on live probably won't help at all...

Your Live account will not be banned at all and you will still be able to play your backups offline.
If banned you can transfer your Live account to another non modified 360 for online play.

send it back mate, you were lied to.
it's easier to disable but with recent events that feature means nothing.

interesting, I have a friend who has 2 360's, one has a chip, the other has flashed firmware, the one with the flashed firmware was banned right away, but the one that was chipped is still running online just fine.

That's just pure coincidence, it's just a matter of time till the the other got banned, especially when he's using non-stealthed backups
