ANyone else had this? I did my update got  banned like keveryone else (using firmware 5.3 prior to spring update) Friday night my console locked up, no big deal it happens. Took it to a a LAN party and turned it on and got a red ring of death, checked my connections turned it back on and it worked. Then after about 10 minutes of playing it locked up again, restarted it, then after about 30 seconds it locked up, restarted again and now it just gives me the red ring of death. Honostly just sounds like somethings overheating, but if theres anyone who is having this problem please let me know.

sounds like just another dead xbox.
microsoft can never legally do anything that would brick the box or prevent you from playing originals.

I swear I heard something last year about them putting out an update that bricked a ton of peoples consoles, well I ended up just getting my 360 replaced at the local gamestop, I've modded my new one, but I won't even plug it into an ethernet jack until their is some sort of firmware that will let me play online again.

that update was a mistake and only happened if your previous firmware was much older than the update.

But if your box gets banned and then it gets the 3 light can MS se on their computer that the console isa banned when they ask for the serial number of the box?

And then maybe they wont take it in for repair? Because they see that its been opend and moddified?
