Yes this is completely unrelated to XBOX, but this community is pretty smart so I'm asking for help.

(1) Dell PowerEdge 2400
(1) Samsung SH-W162 16X DVD+-RW 5X Dual Layer DVD Writer Black /W SW OEM
(1) Samsung Spinpoint SP0842N 80GB 7200RPM ATA133 2MB 9MS Hard Drive
(1) Adaptec ASH-1233 ATA Adapter

The dell only had SCSI ports so i removed the SCSI backplane so I could install my IDE devices without fuss.
I put my IDE HDD in, and my IDE DVD burner in, connected them up to the ATA Adapter
during BIOS loading, it goes past all the onboard SCSI bioses and detects nothing (just like i want)
then it gets to the Silicon Image 0680 Bios that's on the Adaptec ASH-1233 ATA Adapter, it sees both the HDD and the DVDRW.

Here is my problem, I want the ability to boot from the OPTICAL drive, not just the disk drive.....i've been messing around the bios(es) both the Dell BIOS, and the SiliconImage bios and cannot find out how to make this possible.

If anyone can help in anyway.... or recommend a replacement card, i will gladly sell this crap to get soemthing that will boot both optical and disk drives.

These 3 images are in order:

1st image shows Dell BIOS with both IDE DVDRW and
IDE HDD plugged into Adaptec ATA controller.

2nd image shows i unplug HDD

3rd image shows bios showing IDE DVDRW as bootable device but doesnt boot. (just restarts when it seems like its trying to boot from the CD)
