Bit the bullet.

0078fk - Maximus toolbox 3.0
Flashed after January Update from stock after first connect to live. Have stayed offline since a few days before May Update.

STATUS: UNBANNED - I can connect, but it asked for the new update. I've declined so far.

Have played ONLY a backup of Halo 2 online, with the 360 SIGNED-IN with a few 360 games in single-player mode.

Ehhhh, another 299? Sad
What are you gonna do? Swap out hard drives? After that you'll still have to buy games. 60 a pop. Sad

When in fact I do get banned, I don't think I'll play on Live anymore. I never really did in the first place...... well, just CODIII and GOW.

I think I can live without live :x

But of course I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I think there is too much concentration on which drive and fw is being used there seems to be endless posts stating these details and not much more. Which is proboably a great help but there seems to be no pattern here whatsoever. I dont have much knowledge about this but im reading the posts curious as how to the console is detected and then banned. I think by reading the posts from ppl with a bit more details about EXACTLY the goings on when banned encourages more creative thinking.

Like I said I dont know any technical details but wouldn't it prove helpful to eliminate theories like media detection rather than fw detection simply by connecting to live with no disc inserted and if banned post and keep record of this. I read a post from sum1 stating he had infact been banned only playing XBL demos and arcade games on live. If more gamers could connect to live using no media in the drive and report there findings it could hopefully solve this question which to me at least seems the most logical first step.

Hi all. I'm just wondering if anyone ever considered purchasing/using a different network adapter for their banned xbox 360? I can't remember exactly, but I thought they were banning xbox 360's based on MAC addresses or maybe it was another theory.

Since MAC address are all unique among all network devices, then why not use the opposite device, e.g. banned on wired, use wireless...banned on wireless, use wired, on your xbox 360...

just a thought...

It's not banned on MAC address, but on console ID.
Console ID is stored somewhere in the 360 where we can't get/set it Smiley

yer the ID used to be stored in the EEPROM on the xbox 1 and you were able to change it if it got banned but on the 360 i think the ID is stored in the IISE, i think anyway. some one correct me if im wrong  Wink

Isn't the console ID written on the sticker on the back of the 360?

Yep, it'd be good if we could change it. Anybody know if the id has been found and can be accessed?

I have a Hitachi 59DJ

Before the banning started I was running 2.3rev2 firmware. I also did the dashboard update with this firmware.

I hadn't connected to live 3 days before the banning started. I waited and flashed back to the original firmware before reconnecting. I am NOT banned.

After that I flashed to C4E 2.4. Now I keep my networkcable unplugged until another firmware comes out. I might be on the banning list though.

The bannings are so random, and there is no connection to any other drive, and you cant change the console id(soon i hope). The only logical explanation that has proof behind it is the media checks, I feel like I can add to this because a week before the bannings started I bought a 59 and modded it, but didnt play backups, just had the modified firmware, and it hasnt been banned, yet the ones that I did play on which were 47s all had games with pfi and dmi played on are banned.

Last weekend me and two friends went to a guy's house for updating firmware:

1 (mine) - samsung ms 28 - (5.3c version)
Latest Dashboard update

have not connected since a couple of days before the ban hammer (assuming that staying out would save me), after spring update. Well, flashed iextreme, tried to connect, banned.

2 (friend) - samsung 25 (5.3c version)
spring updated but have not connected since (I've told him not to), flashed iextreme, LIVE.

3 (another friend) - hitachi (brand new never connected) - iextreme, LIVE.

That is... the main differences I can see from them are:
1 - I played a lot more... had a lot of points
2 - samsung 28
3 - lots of films and games downloaded from live

I've not downloaded halo neither played crackdown after the spring update (not that I can remember)

You sure you never played a bad backup on live?  Check your stealth patches on your backups and see if they're all clean.  If not...there's your answer.

Perhaps I can be of some help here determining what the bans are for...

You see, I have an m28 which I Flashed with whatever FW version was RIGHT BEFORE the DVD flutter check fix was added by C4Eva.

When the spring update came around, I didn't update (I'm ALWAYS wary of ANY M$ update), then found out about the C4EVa's FW update. So, until I was able to flash the m28 with the update, I didn't DL the spring update, which meant of course that I didn't play any games at all on LIVE since before the spring update, and that I had only played games online with a stealth FW.

I had borrowed my friend's SATA card to flash my m28, and had no ready way to flash my drive, so I played offline for about 2 months until overuse of my 360 in 90+ degree weather (I play outside in a racing chair type thing I built. I like to smoke while playing, too...) caused my 360 to overheat and got me the three rings of death.

Which is how the console has stayed until now. I have an service warranty on it, but then I have to return my HD and everything and get a brand new console (with different DVD, etc). So I'm going to try the heat gun and eraser fixes before I take it back.

So, if I DO manage to fix it I will have:
a 360 with a samsung m28 drive and only "stealth" FW on it that has not yet has the spring update.
NOW HERE'S WHAT MIGHT LEAD TO US FINDING SOMETHING OUT:
All the burned games I played on Live had their "stealth bits" or whatever they're being called set right, as they were burned from scene releases...
EXCEPT for one game, which I copied from my friend who ripped it himself via a PC DVD drive from an original. I'm sure he didn't do anything to it, so unless the ripper program automatically made the image stealth, it's a safe bet that the game was NOT stealth patched.
Out of all my time spent on xbox live, perhaps 85% was spent playing this game. Whoops.

So, if I can fix my box, I'll update the drive FW, get the spring update, etc, and try to play something on xbox live. If M$ was able to tell that I had a burned disc on an m28 due to the disc not being "stealth" patched and counted how often that happened... well, then I'm probably ALREADY banned(heh).

However, I'm guessing that I'll find that I'm not banned, and (hopefully) it'll stay that way.

If I DO get banned, then I'll just return the 360 using my service warranty and get a new box with new console ID, all will be good and hopefully we'll know a little bit more about what criteria they're using to ban.

adol
(On a side note; if my console ID IS already banned, will my 360 even connect to live for the spring update? Will it tell me that I'm banned without me having to even download the update? Just wondering)
