My brother has a hitachi drive with a earler firmware but he does not have internet or use xbox live. Will the spring update effect him as he does not really want to take his 360 apart. Will the update be put on a game to force us to update.

I would say it would be eventually be put on game disks. As for whether he's safe or not, if he don't do anything with live, he "should" be.

Well if he dosen't use live he will be safe, even after the update (assuming he dose not connect to live again unless it's for another update etc)...but...like the README's say, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !  Yes probably at a later date the update will be put onto newer games (HALO 3...probably)

My brother said he now wants be reflash his drive but i have never restored a hitachi before. I am going to use C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth to do it so what i want to know is when i click restore.bat to restore do i have to have the orig.bin in a folder or does it generate a new orig firmware with the drive key when it restores.
