But the real question is, does it use a 65nm chips? edit: I think this is in the wrong section.

lol, as long as its not in the kernel section it doesn't matter, it might be more suited to General Discussion, but whatever.

It does not use 65nm chips yet. And when they do the BGA won't change in size due to all the connections can't be smaller. It will only use less power and produce less heat. One of the main reason for M$ to change to higher density components is of course to get higher yield of the precios wafers which in turns meens more money( or less money lost per console). A lot of capacitors has changesd in 1.1 as well. That is also to get it cheaper since caps are expensive. And they have probably cut out all "unnecessary" components to save more both in component cost and cost for placing them. When they finally moves to 65nm. The can also provide a smaller and cheaper power supply too, so I guess MS is looking forward to this. :-)

they are making like 75$ per console right now. second llama doesn't know if they are using 65nm. How do you know for sure that they ain't?

I want someone to hook up some kind of power meter to compare the voltage drawn from the elite and the current premium.
Hopefully this board design has allowed ms to just simply drop in a 65NM CPU rather than requiring another board redesign.
I hope the PAL Launch of the Elite will feature 65NM CPU's in rumoured November as well. I would also like to see the Benq drive appear more often so the firmware hackers can work on it more.
I also want to know what kernel this ships with, maybe someone can get Ubuntu on it and run a CPUID program to see if it really is 65NM.

it will definitely ship with the latest kernel or even a version beyond, and not the exploitable one. MS even sends out repaired units upgraded to the latest now, they are trying to keep the amount of exploitable units low.

actually, I got my one back from repair three days ago and it had the 2858 kernel! So they don't upgrade ALL consoles.. lucky me.

I'm sure i read somewhere, maybe on avforums that analog signals won't work in a hdmi port?hence why analogue sound does'nt work through hdmi! well if thats right and ms still aint using the hanachip , or are they?, well thats me off to google to find it out! HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface):
Supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable - DVI only supports video HDMI can be converted to DVI and digital audio via a convertor HDMI can be connected to DVI via a single cable HDMI is single link only and therefore only requires single link DVI Is a digital connection and is therefore compatible with both DVI-D and DVI-I Current distance limitation of 15m (This can be increased by the use of HDMI Extenders) Notes: -Since HDMI is digital it WILL NOT WORK when connected to a VGA (analogue) socket via a DVI adaptor! All VGA connections are analogue.

Are all component signals analoge aswell? I know hdmi won't accept analogue sound!

component video is always analog. so is VGA. HDMI is all digital and requires the sound to be digital too, or it has to be seperate, like on 360.

Lol thanks dude, just some peeps say it has the hana chip and some say it do'nt, i take it that if it theres a hdmi port on 360 it has to be the digital hana chip as hdmi does'nt accept analogue sound or video. Lol basicly it must have the hanachip as it has hdmi? is that right?

Good plan! Wish I had an elite Id test.

I don't care about "backups". I don't have a modified dvd firmware on my system yet. I do agree with fairuse. Why do people keep buying the same movie over and over as the format changes? My Xbox 1s have XBMC and DOSBox etc.

I wish they would do away with those x clamps, I'm not too excited yet, although I know the HDMI will sure look NICE.
