ok. i have had samsung MS25 in my 360... unfortunatly it died..

i still have the original firmware. and now i stumbled upon a hitachi v47 drive.

i dumped it's original firmware also... and with firmware toolbox 3.0 i have spoofed it (including copying key) so it'll report back to my motherboard as the original samsung drive...

all good to go, but now i have a question :

how am i going to flash this firmware to my hitachi drive? can i use firmware toolbox for this as well?
because i've read in the readme of XTREME 2.3r2 that with the restore command you don't even need a copy of your original firmware anymore. i know how this is possible, but i don't know how to flash this spoofed firmware to the hitachi drive?

How are you going to flash...well you'll have to manually get the string id for the reporting of what the fw version is to the drive (i.e ms 25, 28, etc)...the string id looks something like 90000303 (it's on the board somewhere) that's what it looks like - don't actually use it or anything...Yes you can use FW toolbox for this as well...the reason you don't need a copy of your original firmware to do a restore.bat is because the key is never touched (on Hitachi's)...all the code around the key is patched (so to break it down...when you do a restore.bat it knows where changes have been made and re-does them back to there original state so you don't need the original firmware) Wink

look this is what i have made with FW TB 3.0:

the hitachi firmware provided with the originel key from the samsung firmware.

so basically all i'd need to do is put my hitachi v47 in b-mode then use FW TB 3.0 to flash this firmware i have made to the drive?
any specific instructions?

is all i need to use FLASH STRING ID (spoof data) and FLASH KEYS to make the Hitachi work on my Sammy motherboard? or should i use DIFFERENTIAL FLASH (PATCH) as well?
