Wierd Sammy? I can see the laser with case on.

Hi All,
        having a bit of trouble with my friends replacement samsung drive
It will only read 1 out of his five backups that he made on exactly
the same media from the same batch.

What i have noticed though is when I close the drive tray
that I can see the laser clear as day as a red dot on the
top of the drive's metal casing. Never seen this before on
any drive I have ever seen. I think his new sammy may have
the laser set way too powerful.

I need a quick fix as I haven't got a multimeter I need to
know which way to turn the dvd pot to lower the power.

Unfortunatley he goes back to Wales tomorrow so any help
would be appreciated.

I assume it will  be anti-clockwise

Just some added info all his backups were done on his shd-162c
and pioneer 111d burner and I have tested them on my 360
and they work flawlessly. They just won't all read on his 360.
