As Microsoft said that the newer games to be released will all come with the dash-fix-the-exploit update, does that mean that if you own a XBOX360 with a 4532 or 4548 kernel, and run any newer games they will forcelly update the kernel or there´s an option not to update and continue to run the game?

Sorry for the noob question, but just right now I decided to buy the XBOX360... Was waiting for some exploits to appear on the scene...

Thanks

No, there's no option to skip the update but still play the game. If that's what you're asking. And it seems to be.

That's the whole point of putting it on every new game. Headlocking you into cooperation.

So "What to do with newer games"... Keep them as far as possible from your 360. They're first party trojans enforcing the ludicrous idea that you don't own the hardware you bought, but a "liscense" to use it. But that's my opinion.

You just have to decide if you want new games or the exploit.

For me, the choice is clear. Official games aren't $#!t next to the possibility of a wide open 360. Powerful and stable xbmc/emulators, and linux.

The real homebrew community still stands tall, though hidden by the flood of pirates due to the only hack being fw until now.

So decide... Are ya a homebrew fan, or a pirate?

Understood.... That was what I wanted to know...

Better stay far away from newer games for some time....

But It would be good though to have homebrew AND play games normally...

Thanks for your reply!

Well said.

I don't care about "backups". I don't have a modified dvd firmware on my system yet. I do agree with fairuse. Why do people keep buying the same movie over and over as the format changes?  My Xbox 1s have XBMC and DOSBox etc.

Just a thought...
What triggers the update? Ie.. is the the update built into the game xex? or does the 360 look for the $SystemUpdate folder?

Maybe its just a case or removing / renaming the folder?

if it is like the dashupdate.xbe it might be possible to replace that "file"
(if it exists) with the 4548 update so the "forced" update is allways a good one

I've done it already.
I got GRAW2 and made a backup to do the test, so I replaced the file su20076000_00000000 in $SystemUpdate Folder with an older one.
Guess what?, The console does not get updated, but the game does not Start. It says that the system needs to be updated to play the game.

So, I ended up with my GRAW2 and a backup useless.

Hope this help anybody.

The 4552 update not only blows an eFuse but it also includes new system libraries (and replaces the dash.xex BTW). You can replace the update folder with an older one to defeat that check but the game itself will either check for the updated libraraies and/or depend on new functionality in the libraries in order to function.

Typical backup-kid polution. "No the stealing still works. Don't worry!"

Dumbass.

Before update: Exploit that might allow the playing of UNSIGNED code (emulators/linux/xbmc).

After update:  No emulators/xbmc on YOUR xb360 any time soon. Unsigned exploit "fixed". But yeah, your dirty "backups" will still work.

Some of us mod-users actually care about important homebrew instead of "backups", "stolen games" and "piracy".

So.. adjust that eyepatch, and learn to use your good eye when reading. Especially before donating advice.
