Hey bluecop, trying to burn using your method but i keep getting a error when trying to open the Image.dvd file. It says "Error opening file LayerBreak=19213776:
the system cannot find the file specified."
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Edit: Nevermind, was using a older version of Clonecd must of not of had the DL support. Burning now, I will let you know how it goes.

the layerbreak info has to be on the very first line of the .dvd file, if it's not, it will assume it's a filename of an iso.

Sorry I know this is a technical discussion forum but can I ask a more general question? If I post it in the normal forums then you guys won't see it and I wouldn't get an authoritative answer. I have been reading these forums for a long time, early on in the original DVD hacking and despite not being a programmer I have understood most of the processes. I missed developments for a while and am slightly confused. Please move/ignore/flame if required.

I am a little surprised how excited everyone is about this new method. Now I know it's good to have further knowledge of the process and this will help with the hacking of the 360 (and will hopefully help in the development of running unsigned code, the real goal) but is the process really any better than the TS method? We already have chips for the Xbox1 and softmods, why are people all so keen to try out this new method and waste an expensive DL when they already have the original (and probably a hacked system as well)Huh

I think I must have missed something because at first glance this method looks cumbersome and expensive. After all the reading I have done on this site I am disappointed that I can't spot the big benefit.

Most of the people that goes here does not want any benefit nor profit, we do it just for fun !!!

We all know that there are better methods (modchips) to load all kind of stuff to the xbox but if we try alternative methods we can debug them to help the 360 firmware develpment.

And finally, if we wait to any modchip to appear to load our isos where is the fun on that?

DL disc: $8 dollars
Emotion to see your iso loading without modchip or softmod: priceless

exactly. I wouldn't have spent 20 bucks on DL blanks for a game I a) already own and b) is less than 20 in the stores. the point is to figure out how things work and just see them work.

@carranzafp

That's where I was going with this one.  If we can do it without a commercial modchip, that just makes it more fun/rewarding.

I'Ve cleaned up the .bat file and also created a large spacer file that basically skips the video section completely, so you only need to unlock the drive using TS's unlocker (you need to use an original xbox drive or a reflashed samsung or LG drive), dump the game section using clonecd or isobuster without swap (named game.iso), dump your security sector (named ss.bin), and then burn using clonecd and the included image.dvd file. credit goes to Bluecop for figuring this method out, I have however NOT tested it using the "blank" video section yet, so if anyone tries this, please report back if it worked (and you are sure your SS is good).

Also worth adding... you can play personal backups of your original games on Live with this hack too (with modchip you can't). But the most important thing is that it is a kickstart for the 360 hack.

Hi all just a quick question,
did the xbox firmware the specialist hacked have to have the bad sectors on the disc to boot as commodore4evas does or did it just boot with a backup without the bad sectors in it. Grin

just keep in mind that MS will likely add protection against the mod and your box will be banned from live without warning then.. so I don't recommend using it on live.

the specialist was saying that only 1 game works with the fw, can anyone disprove his theory? Can we maybe make a list of the games that are tested and working?

As for the motive:
Would you rather kill an xbox1 dvd drive or a 360 drive, rendering the entire system useless?

Hey bluecop I fallowed your method but all i get is the DVD video during boot. I can open my game.iso in xiso and looks find, maybe i did something else wrong I don't know because it won't boot with or without a mod.

it will only boot with the special firmware for the samsung. also, did you dump your own SS? it may not be right for your game.

Yep use dvd info to dump the SS, Dumped the video with Isobuster size was 14,319,616 bytes. game.iso was 7,027,228,672 bytes so every thing seems right.. I will try reflashing the drive with the hacked firmware and try again.

does someone know if i can unpack the raw image, edit game files and repack it.  If so what tools would i use.  Im not sure if you can because the nature of the image has a lot of dummy data that would be hard to reassemble. Thanks.
