Not sure what im doing wrong?

Hi,

Have been reading up a lot on the forums and today felt confident enough to flash my mates Sammy.  It's an Ms28 manufactured in Aug 06. previously unflashed.
I have an Asus kv8-mx mobo with built-in Sata, i used the latest xtreme bootmaker, a usb drive and maximus firmware tools.  First off I used the Mtkflash r /m orig.bin to get my firmware, made a couple of backups and then used maximus to copy/paste my key into the latest 5.2a/b/c/d hacked firmware.
I then used mktflash w /m firmware.bin to write to the drive,all 4 banks flashed fine.  When I tried an original game the drive reads the Disc and then freezes.  If I turn the xbox on with no disc it just states "reading" and then "open tray" or just freezes at logo screen.

I have also tried the samread and samhack method with all firmware from xtreme 3.3 through to 5.2 and it's the same everytime.  When i reflash the orig.bin file, normal service is resumed....I'm using the 10 second sata method and see my sata chipset each time turn on xbox after 10 seconds and it flashes 100%.
Even Samhack tells me everything went fine? The only thing I can think of is the console went in for repair in Jan 07, could they have done something to stop flash working?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
