i have read that i simply need to short PIN 3 of the DVD power port with ground, but that doesnt work. is there another place/point where i can solder a switch to in order to do this? maybe inside the DVD drive?? (its a toshiba samsung

yes, the resistor (TOP side mainboard) that is at the trace coming from the eject switch is GONE

k, you can easily rebuild it.. there are two resistors there, but one will be enough.. just connect the solder a wire from the eject button to pin3, then add a pull-up resistor from pin3 to 5Vsb, say 10k... that should do it

not sure if any will do.. maybe has to be a standby voltage.. so grab the 5V that is on in standby directly from the plug.. or actually I don't even know if it should be 5V or 3.3V, hm.. might be best if you measure it on a working 360 first

you are right, should be standby, otherwise stwitching on with eject would not work...

i will measure it on the switch on a working 360. should be fine then, thansk

(if anybody knows whether its 5 or 3v, let me know
