I have a Benq 64930C, key was at E030. Used dosflash 1.1 (the dos version) with a Via 6421A sata pci card.

Took me 3 tries, but I got it.

So, I prepped an old Samsung MS25 drive. Took the original firmware of it. Put the key in there with firmware toolbox. Then created an iXtreme 1.2revC bin of it.

All that is left now, is to spoof it as my Benq ... correct ?

Someone else in this thread was so kind as to give the correct spoofing locations (thanks !) and I used that :

Spoof string in Benq fw @2CDE : 5042 4453 2020 2020 5641 4436 3033 382D 3634 3933 3043                               PBDS    VAD6038-64930C
Paste in Samsung ix1.2C fw @20BA.

Saved it, and flashed to the Samsung drive. But now every time I get a red light (bottom right), and no screen output.

I also replaced the [ by a . as some other member here suggested but to avail.

I repaired the traces on the Benq drive and put that back in, works like a charm, so I know the cables and the 360 itself are in perfect working order.

Anyone out there who can help me ?

Thanks !!

p.s. Willing to mail my original firmware if anyone needs it (or can modify it for me ? Smiley )

Edit : found it (thanks for the PM though radsy, I'll answer in a minute Smiley ). Stupid error on my side, I forget the 1F (put 00) as shown on page 10 (spoof1 as shown on http://modfreakz.byethost9.com/Temp/spoof1.jpg). Anyway, all is peachy now ! Smiley

idog, what method did you use to dump?  Did you follow the tmf procedure or did you do something different?

idog, what method did you use to dump?  Did you follow the tmf procedure or did you do something different?

Pretty much the tmf procedure.
Just for clarity, here are the steps (that worked) :

Prepped the drive, cut the traces, soldered two AWG30 kynar wires to it, stripped the ends about 2cm.
Prepped a diskette, bootable DOS. Put dosflash 1.1 (the 16bit version) on it.

Unplugged all my dvddrives, hdd's in my computer. Booted with diskette until prompt and typed : dosflash (not yet enter).
Then, I put in the SATA cable (via internal connection on the pci card to the benq drive). Next the power connector from the 360.

I then switched on the 360 via remote, put the two wires together and held them and pressed enter.

It recognized the Benq (was at device 4 in my list Smiley, then pressed R and gave a name for the dump. And then it dumped Smiley

Things which might not matter but which I tried and got it to dump that way :
- cut the traces deeper and wider
- did not connect the flatcable to the laser and also not the narrow one which goes through the hole (if you see the board you know what I mean)
- actually wait to connect the sata and power cable until the pc has booted to dos-prompt

Hope this helps..

Clean the trace, remove the solder and try again. Hopefully it's just a short...

Yeah the drive was fine.  On of the sensor wires broke off.  I decided to just buy a new motherboard off ebay.  Its got an nforce 5 chipset so I should be good.

mattrix , as far as I know, Tool Box 4.0 does not read Banq FW, you need to use Hex editer to manualy find out key, Then open MS25 original.bin in Tool Box 4.0 and insert the key, then spoof to Banq.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to dump my FW off the eeprom chip if i sent it to them.  I would pay $15 or so to have the fw emailed to me or whatever.
