wait, you flashed modified ixtreme 1.2C with benq key and spoof to your ms25 drive connected to your xbox360 elite? am i right? because i have no "free" ms25 or ms28 drive. apparently i don't understand you.
btw, thanks for reply.

He took his key out of the benq drive. Then used this key to flash onto a ms25 drive, and spoofed the ms25 to appear as a benq drive. So he now has a hacked ms25 in his 360.

You cannot flash the benq drive with samsung firmware. You need to wait until someone releases an ixtreme firmware for the benq.

Hehe,
While looking for the key, i noticed that there is a "Wisely Loves Lan" text message in the Benq firmware...

it's at 0xFF30  Wink

my key is at 0xC030 (i need to verify this)

Mine has the same text too. I can't find my key. Is your key located at c030? Mine is not.

Hey guys haven't tried it yet. But here's an idea.  The 3.3v for the mx25 chip is not a true 3.3v coming from the
mobo.  It's 5v.  It's reduced through a resistor on the benq drive.  Anyone try cutting the 5v source coming from the
board and putting a switch in there.

I cant get it to work, i do all the instructions and i get this screen.

I kept on making the gap bigger because i thought it was still making a connection. But now I just want to make sure i did it right or what.  below are a few pics of my board.

Same problem here

I think there may be a fix for MFR=0x00 and DEV=0x00. If you have that specific issue after installing a switch and using the guide, you should send schtrom a pm and tell him your setup.

Yes, if you had read the entire thread, you would know that it has been done using a pci-sata card, VIA based.  Remember.... this is a TECHNICAL thread.

Why didn't FWToolbox 4.0 work for me to spoof my MS28 or MS25 as VAD6083?
Finally found my Benq key at c030. Put key in with FWToolbox 4.0, manually Hex Edit spoof string. Compared it with spoof string that FWT4.0 produces...very different.
FWT4.0 goes somthing like this at start of spoof string...
SATADVDROM......
Manually Hex Edit using my orig benq.bin goes like this at start of spoof string...
PBDS    VAD6083-......
I think its time for a new FWToolbox with improved features such as key support and propper spoofing support please. (You guys are prolly on it already  Smiley)

Also thanks to those who sent different dumps of benq fw. It has helped me notice what string of code to look for just before the key appears. (I had probs finding my own key)

Now all is sweet 4 me. New MS heatsink + MS28 ix12c(spoofed as benq - hex edit worked)

I found my key at B032 Shocked
Now I'm trying to spoof the drive, I don't even know what to say.

Well, yes, my spoofing sentence is:
pbTSds  vaVwt78?>=?79s0c

WTF?
Looks encrypted :S

Yeah, I agree.
I'm trying again.

Okey, f***, this dump is f***** up. I tried 5 dumps, all have different data.
But, I found the key, and on two dumps, the key is similar, so I think I'll try that.

So, what should I do? I used my Asus P5N32-E SLI S-ATA chipset for dumping, but I have a 6421L PCI card too, but I wasn't manage to dump the firmware through dosflash16, and I didn't figure out how to do so in windows.

sorry i didn't read your post  Cheesy

i used 2 different pci-sata card with via chipset, but i can't dump my benq drive.

i tried both with disflash16 and dosflas32, nothing to do

with dosflash32, when i power on drive with switch in OFF mode, my PC freezes, until i put switch in ON mode.
after that, if i start dosflash32, it recognises my benq drive connected with sata port, but it doesn't recongnise flash ID.

i tried many times, but nothing to do. connections of the switch on the benq board are perfect

benq model is VAD 6038 - 62430C, manufacted in june 2007

Hm, I've checked with a multimeter. I used the mulitmeter on the trace, not the soldering, shows 0 when switch is on. shows nothing when off, so soldering looks good.

Is there something wrong with my computer?

Just thought i'd let you all know, got a 360 that came back from MS repair center - new mobo, new heatsink, new warranty sticker and the new BenQ drive (this one looks $#!tty, the tray is very wobbly)...it also has a sticker on the side of it (where the two halves meet) saying "warranty void if damaged" it's a little white sticker and has a picture of a bin on it as well : p nothing to do with MS - i'm in Australia

I've got the same problem but i put the switch permanent to "ON" and after a reboot, my system let  me Dump the Benq. But now my problem is that i have a different Firmware (i think its only in europe, it has the number "VAD 6078") the key position is not the same and the spoofing string looks not the same as your other Benq Drives. Could anyone help me with this?

So you just turned the 360 on with the switch on and then rebooted your computer and it worked?  What chipset do you have?
