You've got the order wrong buddy, it goes like this, Type dosflash, power on drive, hit return, then select port number, i.e 5 then flip switch and hit return

If none of the above then ile hot-swap & try again method 1 now i know the correct order! Thanks Tig for the correct method. I think this is why so many other people have been having difficulties!

^^ you can get a new chip and replace it (bear in mind you will need to re-flash it with stock firmware again for it to work, and you do not have the key OR the firmware yet so read on)...OR...(NOT for n00bs) you can carefully dremel away the plastic on the chip to reveal the leg inside of the chip, then solder a wire from it to the board and wala...

Please excuse me if this has already been answered but instead of having to open and solder the switch on every time there will be a firmware update is there not a way to leave the switch connected somehow and be able to just flip the switch on and off when it needs to be updated with new firmwares? My understanding is that once we have flashed everything we take the switch out and solder the traces back together is that correct? I think if there was a way to mount the switches through the back of the box or even in the box somewhere it would make it allot easier specially if this drive will eventually be able to work with something like the "blaster" setup. Just thought i would ask so that way i could save myself time down the road. Even if it will cost more money i would rather do something like that. Now if im totally wrong about this and we leave the switch connected the whole time im a idiot and please excuse my stupid post.

Just dealt with my first benq today, and I stand corrected---no way to get the drive into recovery mode besides booting without vcc connected.
In any case, this is the method I used.
1. Solder Switch 2. Boot comp into dos 3. Boot 360 with switch in off position 4. type dosflash 5. flip switch to on position and then immediately hit enter 6. Follow steps to read or write
I used the lift the vcc pin of the spi flash and then left the pin up and bridged the connection.

what i meant was
After u have read (or flashed when f/w arrives) can u leave the switch attached and set in the off position and simply jsut blob some solder over the cut track..
So then, when u come to re-read or flash, u jsut pickup the solder and fandabadosy

No need to resolder. Just leave the switch set to ON and the drive works normally.

Brilliant work Schtrom!!!!! Schtrom has a new dosflash16 beta beta that does not require a switch. Have successfully read my benq without opening it. What a well rounded piece of code. All that's need is stealth for the benq

Are you saying that there is now a method to read the firmware without opening the drive (ie. without soldering)? If so, that is fantastic news. Apparently C4EVA is going to begin beta testing the new BenQ firmware next weekend.

Ya i have been searching since the guy above posted that. I do not seem to find anything anywhere. Also what happened to revisions 1.3 through 1.5?? I guess he could skip a bunch if they were small fixes that have not been released but not sure. Personally i would go to 2.0 if i had a breakthrough like that
